Tell us what you love sharing most on Google Maps and why. Whether you’re passionate about finding the world’s best French fries or making the map more eco-friendly, we want to know about it!
What I love sharing the most of Google on Maps is actually very simple. But it’s something I myself use a lot and benefit from. It’s the ratings, reviews and pictures. The reason is very simple. I use Google Maps heavily when I travel. In fact I think it’s the most used app when I travel. Every time I’m in a new city, instead of asking one local where to eat or shop or go swimming, I ask thousands of locals in a few clicks. And how do I do that? Using Google Maps.
I find these ratings and reviews to be highly accurate. Basically, the data seldom lies. And pictures give you a more holistic perspective before you visit the place and allow you to easily identify it when you get there.
I mostly like rating restaurants when I’m travelling as I eat out often. If someone gives you bad service, you can give them a bad review and it actually works as the whole world can see. Like any sharing/crowd sourcing platform, the more people there are on Google Maps, the more effective it is (network effect). More people will benefits from the reviews. More people will use Google Maps to find places and later rate and review them. This is why I love using Google Maps. The huge network of people and authentic reviews. This is just a by product of having a really good maps application that everyone wants to use.
To sum up, I love to add pictures of, and review and rate a new venue when I visit it. Whether it’s a museum, or a restaurant or a train station or a famous landmark.
And because of the power of Internet and technology, you don’t just have to be a local guide in your own city. You can travel to any city and start adding content.
