Hi everyone, I am sharing some of the photos and some information about Rara lake where I traveled in 2017. I like posting at local guides so as to make the traveling easier, eco-friendly, and convenient.
Rara Lake is one of the biggest lakes in Nepal, located at an altitude of 2990 m. from sea level and surrounded by the green hills and white peaks on all the sides. It is in between the smallest national park in Nepal in the Far northwestern part of Nepal.
Rara lake is up to 167 m. deep at some places and it drains into Mugu Karnali river. It is one of the fresh water lakes with different varieties of fishes in the lake.
Rara national park is rich in flora and fauna including more than 500 varieties of flowers, 20 different species of mammals and 214 species of birds.
You can reach to Rara Lake through bus and jeeps from Nepalgunj or fly to Talcha airport from Nepalgunj. In addition, Jeeps and buses can take you near to the lake from where you can hike to the lake. There are two hotels where you can stay at the shore of the lake, enjoying the serenity of the lake.
You should visit this at least once in your lifetime.
