Raise a Glass: It's National Mojito Day!

Hy Local Guides,

Today ( July 11th ) is celebrated as International / National Mojito Day.

History:

The origins of mojito are not well documented and we don’t know when it came to be created. One story dates back to the 18th century when Cuban farmers mixed rum, lime juice, sugar and mint to create a refreshing juice. Another story is that Mojito was created in the 1920s or 1930s by a Cuban bartender named El Draque in Havana.

Regardless of its origin, Mojito became famous in the United States in the 1990s; since then, it has become a classic refreshment/cocktail worldwide.

Originally Mojito was created with rum, but we can create it with Lime juice, sugar, mint and your favourite fruit flavour.

left mojito is passion fruit flavoured from Plated trivandrum and right mojito is strawberry flavoured from Oceano Di Cafe

Comment down your favourite mojito drink image by mentioning where you had that drink. Also, upload any image of your homemade Mojito drink if you have any.

Hi @Rahul001

Thanks for tagging me. Since I haven’t still tasted Mojito, I am not in a position to comment about it’s taste. But the pictures are very impressive, I will give try.

Typical Mojito served to a guest of ours.

Happy Mojito Day, dear @Rahul001

Great post!

As our dear Ajit JI mentioned, I too am not a fan of Mojito - however, my wife is a fan of “Nojito” / “Virgin Mojito” (Mojito without alcohol).

Did you know?

The coconut flavour Mojito is called “Cojito” and

the “Dirty Mojito” uses Gold Rum (instead of white rum).

May be our friends @NareshDarji @AjitThite @Gurukrishnapriya @Supriyadevkar and @TusharSuradkar may like this information.

Thanks to you all.
