With a good number of travel options available, heading to historical Hampi is not much of a problem. But, if you quickly browse through these 5 key HAMPI tips, you will enjoy carefree roaming in the hamlet of historic monuments… dotted by temples… enveloped by exotic locales:-
- Hotels with luxurious amenities are hard to find, because Hampi is a scenic tranquil village… spread over a wide area of 16 square miles. If you want a comfortable stay, you need to book a good hotel in the nearby town of Hosapete - hardly 8 miles from Hampi. Travelling from Hosapete is easy-going as you get a lot of brisk commutes in the form of taxis to tuktuks (tamtams) and the frequently plying state transport buses. For those adventure-loving enthusiasts keen to relish the rustic countryside charm – you can find some economy guests houses in the central bazar of Hampi surrounded by rural shops & restaurants. Stay in the heart of idyllic Hampi, hire a bicycle and explore the exotic beauty of this pristine place at your own casual pace
- ATM’s are rare to find in Hampi. If you don’t wish to run out of money make sure to withdraw adequate cash before leaving the town of Hosapete - your place of stay. Fortunately, my habit of studying the place before a visit, prompted me to carry sufficient cash before reaching there. However, for foreign tourists there are money exchangers one each in Hampi & Virapur Gadde island.
- Meat and alcohol are strictly prohibited here. Scattered with a big number of sacred temples and religious sites in this holy place, you won’t find a non-vegetarian restaurant or a bar. To satiate your hunger for meat, you need to cross the Tungabhadra River and come over to Virappur Gadde island, where some meat serving restaurants are put up at your service
- Plan to visit this idyllic destination should ideally be chalked out during the pleasant months of October to February. Post monsoon period is the best time to explore the ruins at the same time dunk yourself in the delight of lush green landscape

हंपी ला प्रयाण करण्या आधीच्या महत्वाच्या पूर्व सूचना
सुखद प्रवासात त्रुटी राहू नयेत म्हणुन बरेचसे मित्र व हौशी पर्यटक माझ्या कडे सल्ला मागण्या करिता येतात. आपण सर्वांनी हंपी ला भेट देण्याआधी खालील महत्त्वाच्या बाबी लक्षात ठेवणे गरजेचे आहे.
तसे हंपी ला जाण्या करिता अनेक पर्याय उपलब्ध असल्याने फारशी अडचण येणार नाही. परंतु खालील ५ महत्त्वाच्या पूर्वसूचना लक्षात ठेवल्या तर आपले देशाटन अगदी तणावमुक्त होईल यात शंका नाही.
- १६ चौरस मैलांच्या विस्तृत क्षेत्रात वसलेलं हंपी हे निवांत निसर्गरम्य गाव असल्याकारणाने, येथे विलासी सुविधांसह हॉटेल शोधणे कठिण आहे. जर आरामदायक निवास हवा असेल तर तुम्हाला जवळच् ८ मैलांच्या अंतरावर असलेल्या हॉसपेट शहरात एक चांगले हॉटेल बुक करावे लागेल. तेथून हंपी ला ये जा करणे अतिशय सोपे आहे - कारण टमटम, टुकटुक, टॅक्सी व राज्य परिवहनच्या बसेस मुबलक आहेत. साहसी पर्यटकांना जर ग्रामीण कुशीत राहायचा अनुभव घ्यायचा असेल तर हंपीतील मध्यवर्ती खेडवळ बाजारात छोटेखानी अतिथीगृह मिळू शकतील. हम्पीच्या हृदयात रहा, एक सायकल भाड्याने घ्या आणि मनसोक्त या प्राचीन नगरीत विहार करा
- अतिशय महत्त्वाचे - हंपीमध्ये एटीएम शोधणे दुर्मिळ आहे किंवा नाहीच. आपण पैसे संपवू इच्छित नसल्यास, होसपेट शहर सोडण्यापूर्वी पुरेसे पैसे सोबत नेण्याची खात्री करा. सुदैवाने, भेटीच्या आधी मी त्या जागेचा अभ्यास करण्याची सवय घेतल्यामुळे, तेथे पोहोचण्यापूर्वी मला पुरेसे पैसे घेण्यास उद्युक्त केले. तथापि, परदेशी पर्यटकांसाठी हंपी आणि वीरपूर गद्दे बेटावर प्रत्येकी एक मनी एक्सचेंजर आहे.

- ऑक्टोबर ते फेब्रुवारी या सुखद महिन्यांमध्ये या सुंदर ठिकाणी भेट देण्याची योजना आखली जावी. मान्सून नंतरचा काळ हा हिरव्यागार लँडस्केप ची शाल पांघरून रमणीय झालेला असतो. हाच खरा अवशेषांचा शोध घेण्याचा सर्वोत्तम काळ आहे
