Recently, I joined a great virtual meetup hosted by @SharmaKK called “Exploring Connect Tags: Best Practices and Issues”. I really enjoyed the session and wanted to share what I learned, so I created a recap post based on my experience.
But after posting, I was told that maybe only the host should create the official recap. Honestly, I didn’t know that. I’m still new to this part of the community, and I just wanted to contribute with good intentions.
Sorry if I made a mistake — I didn’t mean to break the rules. I really love being part of this community and want to learn more about how to follow the best practices. Thanks for your understanding and kind guidance!

When you attend a meet-up the “recap” button is available for all the attendees, according to the logic of “the first one to press the button writes the recap”.
As a matter of respect, in my opinion, the possibility of writing the recap should be left to the person who hosted it. According to this principle, I agree with @Gvipin
However the recap button is available for all the attendees, because we may have several reasons for asking or delegating someone else to write the recap, for example if the meet-up is co-hosted by more Local Guides.
My suggestion is to agree first (during the event) who will take care of the “Main” recap, and to reserve the space in Connect immediately.
You can write a temporary text (work in progress, or, the recap will be published soon), but if someone else presse the button before you, they will be allowed to manage the space of the recap
Thank you for asking this question. Sorry about the confusion. The old connect was different really,but on the new connect there is a recap button which should be exclusively for the host. Subsequent times you’re better leaving the Recap button to the host since it’s their initiative.
Meanwhile I wonder can you share your own Recap without using the Main and exclusive Recap button . That should be ok really. That’s my input about this topic.

However, I also think the main recap, accessed via the Recap button, should be limited to the host or someone they assign. It helps avoid confusion for new attendees like me. But for someone new like me, the Recap button being open to everyone is a bit confusing. Maybe it would be clearer if only the host or someone officially assigned (like a co-host) could access the recap space directly. That way, new Local Guides won’t accidentally take the wrong step.

I’m really sorry for the mistake I made by clicking the Recap button—I didn’t realize it was meant mainly for the host. I’m still learning, and this experience helped me understand it better.
I agree that the main recap should be shared by the host or someone they assign. For new Local Guides like me, it would avoid confusion if the recap button were only accessible to the host or co-host. Everyone else can still share their personal recap in the reply section, which I really like.
