Qila Gate or Alamgir Gate, Gwalior Fort, MP, India

This gate is popularly known as Qila gate and Alamgir Gate also, this gate is the first entrance to the Gwalior Fort. It was built in 1680 AD by Motamid Khan, Aurangzeb’s governor of Gwalior.
He named this entrance after Emperor Aurangzeb, who was also known as Alamgir. Aurangzeb’s full name was Abul Muzaffar Muhiuddin Muhammad Aurangzeb Alamgir.
He was the third son of Emperor Shah Jahan. And ruled the whole of India for about 50 years.
The image of this illustrious Mughal emperor has been made controversial by the most historians. Currently, it is splendid example of Islamic and Mughal architecture, and is also known as Gwalior Gate.
