The art of making Bumtap Puta.
Have you ever heard or taste Bumtap Puta?
It is one of most popular and delicacies of Bumthang Dzongkhang which can be traced to at least the early part of 15th century, where it is mentioned in the biography of Terton Pema Lingpa(1450-1521).
Puta is made from buckwheat Noodle with spring onions, Chilli powder and fried eggs. Mostly they prepared on special occasions or for the guest.
How it is made:
Firstly buckwheat flour is mixed with cold water and make dough. Then they put dough into Puta machine (made out of wood). Once the noodles are produced they put the noodles into boiling water with the bamboo strainer. After that they dip the noodles into cold water with bamboo strainer and put into large bowl.
They added fry spring onions, Chilli powder, Sichuan pepper and eggs on top of Puta. It can be served as a dry Puta or as a wet Puta by adding curd/milk.
