Another book themed cafe in Mumbai …Pustakafe. But the menu wasnt that interesting or great. The cafe had good collection of 2nd hand books which one can read then and there itself.

PustaKafe, Mumbai
PustaKafe is a book café in Matunga West, close to Matunga Road railway station. It is a relatively new place, but its concept is interesting because it combines books, reading and affordable café food in one space.
Glimpse into History
PustaKafe was started by two friends, Nitin Nai and Dhrumin Chheda. The idea reportedly began as a casual conversation about quitting their jobs and opening a café—and eventually became reality.
The café opened in June 2025 and quickly became popular with students, particularly because it is only a short walk from D.G. Ruparel College.
What makes it special?
Unlike a conventional café, PustaKafe is designed around the idea of spending time with a book.
You can:
Browse books
Have coffee
Eat café food
Sit and read
Meet friends or study
The two-storey space gives it more of a cosy reading-room/community feel than a typical restaurant.
Interesting fact
One of its attractions for students is that it combines reading with relatively budget-friendly food, making it an accessible hangout rather than an expensive speciality coffee destination.
Getting There
It’s around five minutes from Matunga Road railway station, making it particularly convenient for students and commuters.
My Takeaway
“PustaKafe turns the simple act of reading into a social experience—where a book, a cup of coffee and a little free time can coexist.”
