A short introduction: less than 24 hours ago I completed the video that you see here in the post. I shared it with a friend, and she told me “It is pure joy”.
By watching the video again, I can clearly understand why she said it: pure joy is the best way to describe what Connect live was, and what it will be again next year.
24 days ago Google decided, for everyone’s safety and for the difficult to know our near future, to cancel Connect live 2020. It was a wise decision, but I am well aware of the subtle disappointment that each of us felt. For many that reached the community just this year, a question remain opened: what is Connect Live? A free trip to California? A vacation paid by Google? The possibility to meet other Local Guides? The opportunity to talk to Google?
Yes, all of this of course. Three and a half days just sleeping a few hours, because there is too much to do, too much to see, with the adrenaline pumped into the veins at high speed. New friends to meet early at breakfast
Googlers to meet, of course. “Will we meet Google?”, was one of the question asked in here Connect. Yes of course, all the top level of Google Maps were present on stage, to greet us and to show us something of the future (sorry, we can’t talk about that). But Googlers were around us all the time, talking with us, asking questions, eager to hear our views.
What really surprise me every year (yes, I’ve been there three times in a row) is that, when days or months later I see a change in Maps, I will probably say “oh, we talked about that at Connect Live”. This is amazing …
But there are not only Googlers, on the main stage. Some Local Guide, who is doing something special, can be invited to present herself and her activity.

There is much more to discover, and I am inviting the Attendees of a Google Event to share their feedback, or a link to the recap they wrote about one of the Google events. Here is mine for 2018: Fly me to the moon .
What I can add, is that at Connect Live I meet amazing Local Guides, all of them deserved the right to be there.

Sin embargo, en este último tiempo tanto la comunidad global, como la comunidad de Argentina de Local Guides, han estado tan unidas, que ese sentimiento de tristeza , fue reemplazado por uno de alegría e ilusión. Ahora comprendo que el viaje a San Jose fue hermoso, pero el sentimiento de tener amigos en todos los rincones del mundo, es todavía mejor
