What is Paskibra?
Paskibra stands for Pasukan Pengibar Bendera. In English, The National Flag Hoisting Troop.
There is National Flag Hoisting Troop (PASKIBRAKA) and Flag Hoisting Troop (PASKIBRA).
I was not part of National team, therefore I had been part of my High School Hoisting Troop. So, after this I just say PASKIBRA.
Independence Day annually celebrate in every country, including Indonesia. And every time we had this ceremony, 17 Agustusan. Every government instution, schools and some of private company hold this ceremony, and PASKIBRA has to be part of it. We will hoist the National Flag.
Been part of this troop was a pride. I was just teenager, and I spent 3 years be part of this troop.
In High school, It was one of extracurriculars. And the activities, prepare ceremony every monday morning, and saturday evening. The big shows for us, were the 17th August, and other national days (1 Oct, 28 oct, 10 Nov, 2 May and 20 May).
In each ceremony, there are different roles, there is Master Ceremony, the Hoist Troop (3 person/9 person), Dirigent, Choir, and main leader ceremony.
Every Independence Day, I proudly told my son about it, we watch the National Ceremony of Independence Day in TV, like we were watching our favorite movies. And I have never bored, in fact, the show always makes my heart happy, cause I feel proud.
Its good to remember about Independence Day, about the history, so we will be grateful to live these days. This freedom because our ancestors did good fight.
Paskibra, made my nationalism deep, now I am trying to pass this pride to my son.
