Prompt to contribute

I used to get prompted to add recently taken photos or recently visited establishments, via my Android, to Local Guides/Google Map. Google would bring up my recent pictures, and ask me to confirm the name of the location, and then Id be able to promptly write a review of everywhere Id visited. Google would identify the location of the picture and have everything set up so that I can just select a few viable photos, add my review, and send. Thats disappeared for a few months now, and Im trying to get it back, which is the purpose of asking the community for help . Im not sure if its a setting I had changed (Ive searched the setting options and couldnt find anything corresponding to this) or if its internal Google changes, but Id really like to have it back. Has anyone experienced anything similar, or knows how to resolve?

No, this is not a Google change @MorryM . This feature still works for me.

Have you perhaps switched off location tracking?

Hello @MorryM ,

Please be advised that I moved your post to How-tos where you may find more answers to your question.

Hi Tony, thanks for replying but no setting is turned off.

Even when I click “Contribute” it tells me im all done and up to date even though Ive visited many new places and havent added reviews in almost a year, when I used to get prompted to do it every 3 days or so, when google recognized id taken pictures in a new place. Ive scoured the controls, updated the app, and nothing still.

@MorryM does Maps still have allow location when in the background permission?

Ive gone over my permissions in depth multiple times. My apps notifications, allowing tracking, allowing location, everything both in my android and in my Google account. Nothing has brought it back to normal. I go into Google Maps and it wont even recognize my photos to be able to upload them and create reviews.
