Fact-check tasks stuck on “You’re all caught up” for over a year and 0 points.
Post Content:
Hi everyone,
I am writing to report a persistent issue with my Local Guides account that has lasted for over a year now.
In the “Check the facts” section of Google Maps, I constantly receive the message: “You’re all caught up. Check back later for new ways to help.” Despite visiting many new places and keeping my Location History and Web & App Activity turned ON, no new tasks have appeared for 12 months.
Furthermore, my “Facts Checked” point count is stuck at 0, even though I have contributed to other sections of Maps. I have already tried:
Updating the Google Maps app to the latest version.
Clearing the app cache and data.
Ensuring all location settings are active.
Could a moderator please look into my profile or suggest a way to reset this section? It feels like a technical glitch is preventing me from contributing further to the community.
Maybe you turned off location history, so Maps don’t know where you have been (or you don’t visit to many places.
Or your account has been restricted. After seeing your 50 photos on Maps I think you are not aware of the guidelines for photos. Uploading selfies is not okay, and uploading photos you did not take yourself is also a violation of the guidelines.
I’d listen very carefully to what @MortenCopenhagen has said and look at the submissions you’re making, not only are some of them in controvention of the rules / guidelines of the program but there’s a feeling that some of your content might not be your own.
Are you really travelling the world with a drone to capture quality images of major landmarks or climbing vast mountain ranges one minute but then taking low quality selfies and uploading sideways images the next? (You’ve left watermarks on some images that back this theory up).
It doesn’t look right to me and I suspect the automated Google moderation tooling is feeling similar doubts. I’d consider looking at what you’ve submitted, removing anything that isn’t genuinely your content and then editing the uploads that don’t meet the basics rules before your account is banned rather than just limited.
Hi @Naimat14 .
Honestly, “Checking The Fact” probably hasn’t been active on Google Maps for a long time, so much so that it was removed from the “master Fact Finder” badge. In fact, all my recent responses to Checking The Fact were simply counted as “answers.”
So I would like to say that it is not “your problem” but rather a specific choice of Google Maps.
However, this doesn’t mean there are no problems with your account. Since you asked us to verify it, I can only express my dismay at your contributions:
Selfies are a big NO! They don’t show the location, and they’re completely useless on maps.
Photos stolen from the internet are not only prohibited by Google, but also by law. In Pakistan, copyright infringement, such as unauthorized copying or usage, can result in both civil and criminal liabilities, including imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 200,000 rupees. What about to remove ALL of them?
Fake, copied, or AI-generated reviews are not permitted. Even those written about places you haven’t visited, where you write “I haven’t been there, so I give it 3 stars,” are prohibited. Are you kidding?
What really surprises me is that you’re still a local guide, and that Google hasn’t suspended your account yet. The good news is that this gives you the opportunity to become a true Local Guide, starting by deleting all contributions that aren’t yours.
Thinking like a Google Maps user, instead of thinking about points, might help. If you have questions about how to start contributing in a useful and honest way, the community is here to help.
