"PORTOFINO" is in INDIA? "No", It is in Italy. But you can visit in India. LAVASA ' A Hill City

Hi dear all LG Friends,

How I reached Lavasa:

I have visited my friend in Pune, along with my son, in the month of Fab’ 2019. During my visit, I remembered about ‘Lavasa’ – a “Lavish/Luxury Life City”; during 2008 to 2010, Lavasa, as a starting project, made much noise & hype, through Full Page newspaper ads, etc. Hence, I asked my friend about the current status – inspired by his answers, we decided to visit Lavasa!

Thanks to my friend, who drove us to Lavasa with his family. The two hour drive was not very comfortable as the roads were very poor. We started in the morning and returned in the night.

I am eager to share my experience of my memorable visit to “Lavasa” and look forward to #Guide you for your visit.!

What is Lavasa?

Lavasa is a well-planned (private) Hill City around 60 KMs from Pune, Maharashtra. This enjoyable & modern, hill station is a retreat for visitors. It offers a lot to its tourists - from breath-taking viewpoints, picturesque sceneries, astonishing surroundings, etc…. to a getting developed infrastructure (partially completed).

Then, what is the connection Between Portofino & Lavasa?

Lavasa is designed keeping Portofino in mind!

  1. Looking at the Photos, you can make out the similarities of the buildings & colour, shape ect.
  2. The name? = Name was given by an American Branding Company
  3. In Lavasa, the style of the building, Macro lay out concepts, names of streets, etc. have resemblance with Portofino.
  4. In short, Lavasa will be a copy of modern Portofino, when completed.

To talk little more about Lavasa:

After the independence of India, this is the first planned Hill station to be operational. Located in Sahayadri Mountains, the climate though out the year is pleasant, although monsoon gifts a different feel to Lavasa. In Lavasa, the Main Street, Portofino, follows around the edge of a man-made lake, at the center of Dasve. To me, Lavasa will allow the occupants to “Live, learn, work and play in harmony with nature. Only the post office and police station is under the local Government body. A City manager, appointed by the developer is in charge of the project.

Here are few views of the project: What to see & enjoy here, presently.

How to reach Lavasa:

  1. By Bus: There are many buses flying between different cities of Mumbai & Pune, and is the most economical transportation; better to book advance.
  2. Train: The nearest Railway station is Pune only, which is around 65 KMs.
  3. Flight: Again, the closest airport is Pune; although Lavasa has a helipad, no much services.
  4. By Taxi/Own Car: One of the best experience (presently, the roads are bad) to reach Lavasa by road; an approximate 2 Hours will be drive tie

The different entities available & coming up are Restaurants, Entertainment centres, different hotels & resorts, educational institutes, shopping centres, housing projects (for variety of classes), professional companies etc.

A fee of Rs.500.00 is charged to enter in the city of “Lavasa”.

There many entertainments & activities, available in Lavasa; for an approximate idea:

The Water Sport activities carry charges as follows:

Peddle Boat @Rs.150/Person for 20 Min.

Jet-Ski @ Rs.600/Person

Cruise Boat @Rs250/Person

Jetovator Training @Rs.4000/Person

Towable @Rs.1500/two person

Twin Rider cycles are available for half an hour for hire.

There are many Restaurants and a variety of choice are also available (Budget food, Continental food, Chinese food, etc.)

Conclusion:

Worth visiting with family & friends – Surely, Lavasa will gift you a very memorable holiday.

Thanks a Lot @MoniDi for so early acknowledgement & lovely comment. I like it’s Peaceful atmosphere, picturesque surroundings, neat n clean streets of Lavasa. There are many restro-bars, street food outlets, Hotels & cafe through out the walkway of Lavasa Hill City. “The All American Diner”, “Chor Bizarre”, “Chaat-Watt” & many more restaurant are there.

Down-Town Restro-bar is also a good option for hangout.

I also have never heard of or been to Lavasa. It certainly doesn’t look like any place in India; very modern buildings on the lake. You have certainly described it well @Mukesh71 with great photos each having very appropraite captions I thank you for that because thay make your story really easy to follow. Is Lavasa a new purpose built place? The man-made lake looks amazing and so large and I can see from your photos, boating is a big activity.
