I went to Prague on holiday last year without thinking about the food, it just seemed somewhere different to go.
We spent the days walking around the city, with a lot of steps, constant sun, and a few pub stops (including a medieval tavern), it certainly worked up a good appetite.
We tended to stick to the tourist-y area so I’m not sure how “authentic” the food was, but one evening after umm-ing and arr-ing about where to eat in the Old Town Square (where all the restaurants have someone outside to persuade you to come in) we just picked a restaurant and sat down.
I love meat. Pork belly is one of my favourite meals at home in the UK, so when I saw on the menu they had a “1kg+ pork knuckle” my mind was made up.
No matter how “tourist-y” the area was, this was the best piece of pork I’d ever eaten, including all the pork belly back at home. It came apart like butter and melted in your mouth. It came with a small salad, sauerkraut, and mustard - with this much meat there is no need for carbs. It’s practically Keto, which makes it healthy, right?
And if you have that then obviously you have to go the whole hog with the litre of beer.
10/10 would go again.
