As a Local Guide, we want to move upward by increasing our Star-rate.

The points, mentioned in Google Map Support section are

Contribution Points
Places added 15 points per place added
Road added 15 points per road added
Review with more* than 200 characters 10 bonus points per review
Eligible list published 10 points per published list
Review 10 points per review
Video 7 points per video
Description* (in list) 5 points per description added
Edit 5 points per edit
Photo 5 points per photo
Respond to Q&As 3 points per response
Photo tags 3 points per tag
Answer 1 point per answer
Fact checked 1 point per fact checked
Rating 1 point per rating
  • We have to maintain at the initial time itself, I think.

Hello @asokanma

The information is available upfront in the Maps app. Replicating the same thing here is not serving any further purpose.

Nevertheless, the aim of the Local Guide activity should be

  1. Share experience of places to help future travelers/customers
  2. Add missing data.
  3. Correct the wrong information. Help in review of suggested corrections.
  4. Refrain from spamming by avoiding duplicate photos, meaningless reviews etc.

In my opinion, earning points is secondary & while we continue the activities as above, the points will keep on accumulating.

I want to reinforce the clear answer given by @C_T

Points and badges are the representation of our activity. We receive points and badge because we contribute, but we do not contribute to receive points and badges.

I agree with @ErmesT and @C_T . As a local Guide our prime motto should be contributing towards Google Maps with unbiased reviews, clear picture of the premises or locations to help our social community in taking better decisions while searching those places on Map.

Badges and points are the motivational gesture from Google.

So keep yourself motivated and put your best to Google Maps.

I don’t understand, why you are focusing on reach faster to achieve level 10…

Level doesn’t matter, your true and useful contribution is important…

It may create a unbalance of community, because many local guides when read your post, they focusing on quantity contributions…

Many local guides know this, and for your post, if you have good amount of (quality)contribution, you automatically goes one to another level…

Always focus on Quality Contributions…

Because, It’s true and accetable…

And help more…

And above information that you share, it’s already given in standard format of google Maps Support…
