It all started with a push notification on my mobile screen: “Did you know this place?”.
Suddenly I caught myself describing how good was some meal in some awesome restaurant in a most colorful and meaningful set of words.
I use to work with digital marketing in my Clark Kent´s hours. I have this habit to apply some marketing analysis at any situation through the day to better understand why people (sometimes myself) are doing what they are doing. As I started the long reviews about places I stepped on, I did such analysis and realized how great this was.
Three main reasons why:
First and more obvious, local guiders are better rewarded by longer and more detailed reviews; that is nice, after all more rewards means faster growth in our profile level.
The second thing about it is more psycological: More completed reviews are showed more, thus they are seen and liked more, and been liked is something every digital human being wants. As in our other social networks, post something that someone likes encourages us to produce even more content about it, which in turns ends up generating more interactions (likes, comments, shares) and so on.
Then comes the third and perhaps most important thing: You can actually help people.
From a (not so) good restaurant, a park that is safer for a night run to a hospital with less waiting time at emergency, a review is a real, personal, and more truthful information about that place.
In a world concerned about fake news, the more information the more you make people aware of and confident about what they can find when they visit that place you were, whether you ventured yourself to discover or simply followed another review and went to check for yourself.
A quick fact - This is how Google was built: bringing the most relevant search results based on their recommendations ammount. Genious right? No, just human.
Let´s help ourselves making online information more truthful and human.
For realtime practicing: would be great if you review this article.
Thanks!
