Places to Visit: M&M's World, London, UK

This is probably one of the most spoiled posts I will ever do. Just because of the topic. Alright, how many of you have ever tried M&M? Those chocolate candies. Raise your hands. No, don’t. You will look stupid. Especially if you are reading this post at the subway. Just leave me a comment below.
You know how tasty M&Ms are, right. Now, open a bag of these and smell it. This is what the entire M&M’s World smells like. No, not the plastic, the chocolate smell is what I mean. Yes, that’s right. The first thing you will notice is the crowd at that store. Then, it will be the scent. They are only taking a day off for Christmas and may be the New Year. M&M’s World is an awesome place where the whole menagerie of souvenirs and merchandise are stored and completely on sale. They are part of the today pop culture. From T-shirt, through candy boxes with options to mix all the colors, towels, blankets, toys, mugs, sippy cups and even chocolate milks. Those traditional magnets and key chains are in that store as well.

The day I paid a visit to the M&M’s world in London, I was joined by my goddaughter. She’s a wonderful child. You should know it. Very smart, etc. However she’s a devil in a small body of a cute kiddo. This 11yo, made me buy a whole bag of M&Ms that day. A nightmare. A diabetes in paper bag. No joke, these are delicious but they have the addictine (fake chemical ingredient word I use to confirm something is delicious). It’s also true, M&Ms are trying to be eco. I am saying ‘trying’ because most of the packages in that store have plastic.
So, my goddaughter enlighten me in the M&M’s store concept. It is charming how the children see this place, so I’ll try to share her vision. Whenever arriving, try not to take a shopping bag. First, you will spill your bag of M&Ms (remember to use the tube fillers, no reason to buy M&M containers. Yes, they look good but you want more candies), then second, you will spend more money on things you don’t need. Last one was her idea because I tried to limit her budget. We had to visit a few more places that day. I followed her in that store an she said ’ No matter what, first go to the second floor. I was like ’ What the hell are you talking about?’ . You will later realize what she actually meant. We climbed the steps to the upper level where she pushed me to the small terrace and informed me that what we are looking at is the store. And she was right, we were standing at the top of the whole store because underneath, there were three floors of M&Ms and I do mean it. That little devil whispered in my ear ’ follow me’ and so I did it. The ground floor is where you basically pay everything you’ve collected from below … and from the same floor … which is actually M&Ms with London landmarks. Ground floor is for the lazy people who came just to say they have been here. What we did that say was exploring.

The Minus M floor, as my goddaughter is calling it, is the small nightmare for every parent because of the long wall of colorful tubes containing M&Ms, so you could get a slushy filler, that candy bag in addition and also an M&M container, a backpack, perhaps? The most important thing on that floor is the containers wall. You will be amazed by the size of it. I am honest with you. Couldn’t get enough of it because of all the colors and options. There were M&Ms with peanuts inside but I am not a fan, so I was stuck with the classics. After doing the quick check of them, you can go deeper and deeper to the hell of every parent or godmother, in my case.

The Minus M&M is where the whole clothing line and toy stuff is basically located. There’s a whole car with M&M candies driving it and a football M&M can be seen. And by car, I do mean a car. It’s a live size. Please, feel free to check it on the Google Maps photos. I couldn’t include mine here because my kiddo posed to weird.
All sculptures there are gigantic compared with the ones you have paid and eating during your walk but hey, that’s their world. What I absolutely adored was the M&M coin machines. There also had an option to order M&Ms printed with your photo. We didn’t try either of these because of the planned M&M baking. Yes, there were baking molds with the M&M characters shapes or faces, so we bought them. Needless to say, we did a home chocolate with whole M&Ms inside of it. The cool thing? It was delicious. The bad thing? It was not enough.

After the quick ‘Get to know’, I am supposed to tell you how to get here. It’s pretty easy because this one is close to Leicester Square Station and Picadilly Circus Station of the London Underground. Nearest bus stops I can think of are Trocadero / Haymarket (Stop K) for buses 14, 19, 38, N19 and N38. There’s also Haymarket Jermyn Street (Stop R) for buses 6, 139, N15 and N113.

I am curious to read about your visits to such shops, or this one in particular. Has anyone tried that or likes M&Ms? That’s the funniest occasion you have tried these or your favorite M&M?

Later Edit: If you are fans of sweets or really into food pranks, please feel free to check my Kingdom of Sweets article about the shop near Piccadilly Circus as well. It is available right here.

Hi, @FlameFox ,

I am for 100 percent fan of M&M’s of every kind shape and color! Chocolate, peanut butter, mind or with almond - all of them are tasty

I have been in M&M’s world stores in NYC and Las Vegas.

New York store is incredible and is my favorite (may be for now, because I missed the London shop ;).

Moreover 10 years ago nobody checked if you ate candies directly from the tubes! For real. So I visited the store multiply times just to taste every kind!

@FlameFox Thank you that you shared this interesting place not only for children.

Hiya @ArtyZ ,

It’s awesome to meet someone who’s been to multiple stores. It’s a wonderful experience! Aside the more strict observation over the M&M’s wall, I am finding a massive difference in the acrylic displays. Looked at the photos on Maps and I absolutely adore the Madam Liberty M&M’s display. Is it that cute even live?

Cheers, @GeorgeR68 ! Thank you for taking the time to check the article too. Are you a fan of these sweets too?

@FlameFox , Absolutely! The most well known symbol of NYC. There are many toys with M&Ms Madam Liberty. The only problem people prefer classic red or yellow toys =) So did I and bought the yellow toy.

Heh, the bright, warm colors are expected to be preferred, especially in the concrete city jungle. What’s curious is how the different visitors accept them. As a Harry Potter person, I believe that green, orange and brown (chocolate or a different association to that color) M&M’s aren’t favs. Did you notice any particular color being sold out, @ArtyZ ?

Wow @FlameFox , I did not go so deep in analysis so far

The thing is red and yellow candies are classic and were shown in TV or posters Ads more often. The green was added in the end 1997. Thats why adults have preference in red or yellow. So I assume the choice is not connected with color weakness but result of enormous video Ads of M&Ms.

I like your arguments more. Sound way logical on the product and economy matter, @ArtyZ . I was thinking of the travellers point of view and what would I prefer if I am stuck in any of these cities on a rainy day. However, positioning the red and yellow M&M’s on each package and the brown and yellow-ish color does incline to the warm contract colors as preferred.

Have you tried any clothing, home ware or probably toy merchandise of M&M’s?
