“Rajasthan” is a state in Northern India, which means “Land of the Kings”. Rajasthan is the largest Indian State by area. There are many places to visit in Rajasthan, but this post is all about the Jaisalmer city of Rajasthan, also known as “The Golden City”.
Here is a list of places I have visited in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan and also recommend to others:
1. Gadisar Lake:
This place is wheelchair accessible. This place is great for enjoying with friends and family. If you enjoy boating, then this is the place you would surely love. Remember, while boating, don’t get it paddled near the shore, you may get stuck. But don’t worry, then there is a saviour by the name of “Pandey Ji”. He with his expert skills is able to pull the stuck boat away. Here is that angel,
Pandey Ji at the age of over 60, works here as a saviour to release the stuck boat. This man deserves great thanks.
2. Jaisalmer Fort:
Again, Jaisalmer Fort Palace Museum is yet another place to visit at Jaisalmer. In summer, it opens at 0800 hrs and shuts at 1800 hrs, and in winter, the timings are 0900 to 1800 hrs. This is a nice place to visit.
The Jaisalmer Fort also goes by the name Sonar Quila (Golden Fort) as it rises from the desert itself and seems to become one with the golden hues of the sand. The setting sun adds its own magic and shrouds the fort with mystique. The fort is constructed in the classic style of the royals by local craftsmen. This fort is a world heritage site and forms an important plot point in one of Satyajit Ray’s famous Feluda stories and corresponding movie, Sonar Kela (The Golden Fortress).
3. Patwon Ki Haveli:
Jaisalmer’s second most popular spot after the Jaisalmer Fort is Patwon Ki Haveli, which is not just a single building, but a combination of five different Havelis, each with a distinct quality of its own. Patwon Ki Haveli, with its unique architecture and design, is one of the most significant Havelis in Jaisalmer, and Rajasthan. With its construction of yellow sandstone mirroring that of nearly every other building in Jaisalmer, Patwon Ki Haveli stands out due to its unusual and wonderful design.
Opening / Closing Time: Daily: 8 am to 7 pm
Entrance Fee: Rs. 30 per person
4. Sam Sand Dunes:
Desert Safari and beautiful Sand Dunes is what makes Rajasthan a special tourist place. It is one of the best places to enjoy with friends and family. The beautiful cinematic view of the sand dunes is an eye candy and a treat be there.
It makes it much more amazing and fun, if you are there with a pet, have a look:
And if you have got ample time to spend at Jaisalmer, there are some other places to visit at this place. You can also spend a night in the tents in the desert but that is towards the pricy side. Enjoy, Thanks.
