Places to Discover in Austin, TX

I am so lucky because I have friends all around the country. I really enjoy getting to visit them because I never have to get an Airbnb or worry about transportation! ? For spring break last year, I visited a few friends in Austin, TX. While I was there I explored other areas of Texas as well.

Here are some photos of my trip!! ?

The Texas Capitol Building is huge! It’s actually 15 feet taller than the U.S. Capitol Building and during its’ construction in 1885, was billed the seventh-largest building in the world!!

The rotunda is gorgeous!!

The famous bat bridge! When they renovated this bridge they turned it into the perfect bat enclosure. Now every day around sunset, thousands of bats fly out at the same time! ?

The famous Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX. I actually fell across this spot by accident. You can find a lot of pictures like this where everything is black and white except for the umbrellas.

Hi @tiffanyroberts and welcome to Connect! thanks for sharing these lovely pics! I especially like the one with the flags.

Is the entrance to the capitol open or would you recommend booking in advance?

Hi @kroza !! The Capitol Building is actually open to the public. Just make sure you show up during public hours and you’re welcome to walk throughout the building!

Hi @tiffanyroberts

Your photos are really cool! I’ve never been to Texas, but I’d love to go there one day. It’s one of my top USA destinations. What’s your favorite thing about Texas?

What activities or attractions are there at the famous Riverwalk in San Antonio? It looks like a really cool spot to grab a bite or have a coffee.

Thanks a lot for sharing! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you! I think my favorite thing about Texas is the culture. The entire state is so different than the rest of the US. With it’s laid back atmosphere and southern vibes, it is definitely one of the best vacation spots (as long as you can handle the heat). They say everything is big in Texas and I really do believe that. They have a gas station that is as big as a Walmart!!!

The Riverwalk in San Antonio has a ton of restaurants. Definitely the place to get food during the day and at night. You can also take the ferry up and down the river! San Antonio is a city in Texas that can get really really humid though, so be prepared! If you ever go, be sure to check out the surrounding area, there is a ton of history and shopping :slightly_smiling_face:

Austin, TX is one of the places I’m dying to visit in the short-term - your photos are wonderful, @tiffanyroberts - although, the bat cave sounds pretty cool but a bit nerve-wracking for me as well :joy: .

It’s actually so much fun on the bat bridge! @SP31 There is an organization that attends either every night or once a week, and they hand out light up bat glasses and other freebies. It’s definitely an experience!

Hi Tiffany. Love your photos. Wondering what cam or smartphone you’re using to shoot them? Cheers.

I am using my old Nikon D3400. Looking into getting a Canon R5 now!
