ម៉ូយ or Pink Shower tree [Cassia Grandis], is also known as Palawan cherry often shows flowers late February and lasts until middle of March. You will see this big flowering tree planted along the national road or in village by the locals’ houses almost everywhere in Cambodia. The flowers are very beautiful when blooming (without leaves) in pink colour. The trees can grow up to 30 m (98 ft) tall, but mostly around 10meters. it is said that these species is distributed from southern México, to Venezuela and Ecuador. Even I have never seen them in forest, it might grow there as well. In Cambodia, you will see them around the houses of local people and on the roads.
- Locals grow this tree for fruits. Its fruit is sweet but a bit smelly.
- Its leaves are used to make fruits [such as mango] ripen well
I only knew of its pink flowers but never realize it actually has yellowish-white flowers. Many people I know (older generation) do not even know of its existence.

Pink Shower Tree [Cassia Grandis] is blooming with some flowers. Later, they will produce fruit which is edible and sweet! I captured this yesterday along the stream while visiting my friend’s house.
Took this Pink Shower Tree [Cassia Grandis] from Takmao.

Yellowish-white Shower Tree [Cassia Grandis]: my first time seeing this tree with this colour. This is rare, I have never seen or heard about the white flower Cassia Grandis. This is found in last February when I visited my auntie’s family in another village.
