Just found that if reviews are viewed by relevance, photos of the most relevant reviews are not shown. Photos of the same review, if viewed by time frame (newest), still show. Don’t know if it’s the issue for iOS app.
The pages are normal on desktop browser. So I think this is an issue of the app (iOS).
Thanks for reporting this, @ivanos
As this pertains to one of my reviews, I went ahead and tested it. My picture shows under my review if Quartier 5 no matter which sorting is applied. The rest was done on my Android phone using my account.
If I can get a hold of an Iphone I will repeat the test.
Cheers

My wife was so kind to let me use her Iphone for a second test. No matter which sorting I applied the photo is shown under my review.
I use Maps without being logged in.
Two possible explanations:
Under relevance the order depends on who you are following. This might affect the test results. And, should one of the photo servers be too busy your app should rightly prioritize showing results over waiting for an image to arrive.
Is the lack of the photo consistent or does it sometimes show?
Cheers

I just used iOS Google Maps app to check again (in the logged-out mode). Still no show. Over the past two days the issue has been consistent. So I guess at my side at least it’s not server issue. I’ve also taken a look at the Google pages of places in Tokyo I visited a few months ago. Same issue is observed. Most relevant reviews when viewed by relevance are with no photos.
Just thinking aloud: Could it be that after relevance they want to show more text reviews and fewer photos?
Would you be able to find an example with a review from someone you do not follow?
But most likely it is something on your device. For further trouble shooting please share your operating system version and the Maps app version.
Cheers
Morten
I didn’t follow you. And the examples shown were taken when I logged out from my LG account.
iOS version: 17.4.1
Google Maps app version: 6.126.3
Okay. No problem.
It would be good if someone else on iOS could check and confirm this issue.
Or maybe @MoniDi now has enough to escalate this?
Cheers
Morten
Hello @ivanos ,
Thank you for sharing these details. Please be advised that I escalated the issue earlier today and I will get back to you once the relevant team responds.
Update: Just checked and found back to normal.
Great news, @ivanos ! I’m glad to hear that.
