Hello all. Here to seek a guideline for an issue i’m facing. Been out at St James park London for V Day 80 celebration and edit my old review as spell mistake. In result, all my new photos and reviews whatever i wanna post is not going public or even somes i can’t even download as it shows Google maps app crashed.
Gave it time so it can automatically solve after some days but its more than a week now and still nothing update in account.
Kindly any team member in admins if you have a look in this matter will be appreciated. I’m using mobile app on iphone. Any help will be appreciated. Looking forward for some solution.
Thank you for your confidence and tagging me (although I am not a moderator ) @ShreyaMusings, I try to give @Wintask some tips:
All our posts to Google maps, that is the text of the reviews and the contents of photos and videos are checked by an AI filter. Not only to ensure all rules are obeyed, but also to avoid SPAM and false information. If photos or videos are attached to an review and only one of them is rejected, the entire review including all other attached media are not published (“hidden” or “made private”).
Is this review still public? Can you share with us a link to it? The photos which are not possible to be published, are they attached to this or other reviews? Do you see your photos under My Contributions → Photos?
In addition, you should provide some more information (as I already have told you a while ago):
What are you using, a desktop browser or the Google Maps app on a mobile device?
If the latter, under Android or iOS and which version of the app are you using?
What are the steps you perform to attempt posting a review or photo?
What exactly happens, so you can say “I’m not able to post”?
You don’t find the appropriate button or you can post it, but it doesn’t publish or do you receive an error message?
Hope, this helps for now. Let us know, if you have questions.
Many thanks for ur reply and guideline.
I can’t share that edited review because its not public anymore after spell edit. Its 2 year old review has many likes and views. All its 5 photos were public before and all about nature and park nothing AI can get anything suspicious from it.
Even if that review has problem then why i can’t upload anymore photos or reviews which makes no sense. Even i’m always careful about my wording and photos rather than get some trouble but still here i am. @MortenCopenhagen kindly can you have a look into this matter please and put me in right path. Hope get u back when u have time. Appreciate in advance even i know how busy Moderators are to resolve the issues and make things better.
I can happen that a filter rejects a photo, which was already public for a long time. I suggest, to remove the photos from the review and watch, whether text-only gets published. If you don’t have the originals anymore, download the photos, before removing.
As suggested by @WilfriedB, please share the review text, the Maps link to the place and copies of the photos you attached to the review in a reply below.
It’s one of my favourite parks in London. Perfect and central location. An amazing park that is just steps away from the Buckingham palace, next corner of Trafalgar Square. You can have a superb view of London Eye from the park and Bigben having peek a boo from the trees..
If you are in the area, then definitely worth a visit for its wildlife and nature beauty. A must see list start from the pelicans you find here are a sight. Interesting fact is that these birds were gifted by previous counties to past kings and they have remained in this park since. Then there’s friendly squirrels, swans, geese, ducks, pigeons etc. The best season to visit is spring and summer when park is full of flowers.
Big lake is pretty extra addition in this park. Enjoy the changing of the guards, Royal guards and horse guards. Things never stop here so better to visit and find out more for cafes, pubs and many interesting points
I read your review and found a few things for you to try.
The text is pretty much general remarks and not reflecting your personal experience. The value of Google Maps is that we as users can find out what others experienced and how they liked it. Your text is more like a text from a brochure about the park.
Next, your review is very long. The recommended length is one paragraph.
If these tips does not make your review public consider testing if removing “peek a boo” could be the problem.
Further, the third photo could be from anywhere in nature. It is so zoomed in and not showing anything recognizable to the park.
Best of luck
Let us know if and what solved your issue.
Thanks @MortenCopenhagen@WilfriedB for all ur suggestions and precious time.
I edit my review according to my experience and made it short.
Cut down all suspected wordings like peak a boo.
Removed all the rest of photos from that review.
After all this, its going no where and still same.
I agreed that photo could b from anywhere nature place but i always add photos which Google maps choose with geo location.
I had done that add photo by mistake from other place and for that i have been bane from Localguide for 18 months. After that i always careful not to make that mistake again.
I’m not worried about just one review but can’t post new reviews or photos. I can happily delete this review which has thousands views but what if i never able to post new reviews after that ?
Anyhow any other further suggestion please. Looking forward to resolve this issue
I’m running out of ideas. You should test if a new review added to another place also get hidden. In that case the problem is likely linked to your profile.
I systematically avoid using any of the prompts from Google Maps to upload photos. It often suggests uploading photos that I already uploaded. This that can get us suspended as you experienced.
Appreciate @MortenCopenhagen for making that effort. Yes there are hundreds of new reviews just in 3 weeks because of special Victory Day 80th WWII celebrations at Buckingham Palace. Even i noticed in St James Park update section. A lot of people’s photos never go public but just wording. First thought its suspension from Google Maps for this place. But after that realised my new contributions not going public.
Thanks again for ur help
I checked again and my review is still not showing under latest in Incognito mode. So I deleted it.
But what can we conclude?
It might not be your review, photos or profile that is causing this as it happened to my review also.
Personally, I would not be too concerned as places with 59k reviews are not really in need of more reviews.
The review filter is still immature and removes many authentic reviews for unexplainable reasons. I would argue that reviews posted by LGs with a clean track record to benign places like public parks should be a no-brainer for a an AI filter to not remove. Obviously, Googles fear of spammers exceeds rational arguments.
Thats fine @MortenCopenhagen. At least u tried ur best to resolve it.
But main point is i’m not able to post any new review anywhere or can’t post a photo of anywhere.
At least you can help me in this matter because system is in ur hands so far
