#Photo Walk - The Tamil Nadu Police Museum & its Accessibility - Chennai - Part 1/2

Hello dear friends,

I was lucky to join the physical meet up hosted by @Jose_G_Benjamin (on Saturday, the 30th of April at 4 pm IST) at the Tamil Nadu Police Museum. I thank him & all other LGs who joined & made the meetup a grand success. Besides our meeting time, we spared some time for exploring the museum.

The Tamil Nadu Police Museum - Chennai

The Tamil Nadu Police Museum exhibits artefacts that are almost (up to) 2 centuries old. The artefacts were not purchased but, instead collected from various police stations. This museum is located in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu.

About the building:

This building was privately owned by an individual and was constructed in 1842. During the colonial period, the property was bought and converted into the office of the first Police Commissioner of Madra. The building functioned as the commissioner’s office till 2013.

After that, though the building was about to be demolished, the Govt. fortunately decided to convert it into a museum. The renovation works were started in October 2020 and completed within 9 months; the museum was opened to the public in September 2021.

The building was constructed based on Indo-Saracenic architecture. It is a two-storied building with high parapet walls with the Madras terrace roofing and a wooden spiral staircase. The portico at the entrance has Doric columns. The massive main door leads to a high-ceiling hall that consists of wooden beams. The exhibits are nicely arranged and are well lit too.

A well-maintained cafeteria is operational next to the museum building.

Wonderful meetup @TravellerG ,

Hope this was your First Physical meet up post @TravellerG , after Lock down.

Photos are as usual Awesome ,

I Like the Guard of Owner Phot of two Horse rider, even @jaisoncbe photo of stair with Lamp stand 360 positioning is classic.

The Pic says all LG must a have enjoyed a lot as I could see few of them are photo Lovers.

One small suggestion,

in your LG group photo if you could at least mention there like from Left to Right or Right to left who are the LG or their name at least if not connected ID.

The post could have been more inclusive ,well connected and impacted thereafter .

even Now you can do it so by editing if you deem fit .

this is just a suggestion…

Thanks for Tagging me

As you are aware, some LGs are not active here in our LG Connect and hence avoided tagging all.

Of course, forgot to mention about our virtual meetup in the RECAP - felt very sorry.

Awesome meetup! @TravellerG Sir.
The true joy of meetup comes only in the physical meetup. Because here you can meet other local guides and exchange experiences with them and @Anil6969 says right “The Pic says all LG must a have enjoyed a lot”. All pictures are great, especially the wide-angle shot by @jaisoncbe is great. Thanks a lot for sharing this recap with us.
