#Photo Walk - The Tamil Nadu Police Museum & its Accessibility - Chennai - Part 1/2
Hello dear friends,
I was lucky to join the physical meet up hosted by @Jose_G_Benjamin (on Saturday, the 30th of April at 4 pm IST) at the Tamil Nadu Police Museum. I thank him & all other LGs who joined & made the meetup a grand success. Besides our meeting time, we spared some time for exploring the museum.
The Tamil Nadu Police Museum - Chennai
The Tamil Nadu Police Museum exhibits artefacts that are almost (up to) 2 centuries old. The artefacts were not purchased but, instead collected from various police stations. This museum is located in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu.

This building was privately owned by an individual and was constructed in 1842. During the colonial period, the property was bought and converted into the office of the first Police Commissioner of Madra. The building functioned as the commissioner’s office till 2013.

After that, though the building was about to be demolished, the Govt. fortunately decided to convert it into a museum. The renovation works were started in October 2020 and completed within 9 months; the museum was opened to the public in September 2021.

It is a two-storied building with high parapet walls with the Madras terrace roofing and a wooden spiral staircase. The portico at the entrance has Doric columns. The massive main door leads to a high-ceiling hall that consists of wooden beams. The exhibits are nicely arranged and are well lit too.
