I was checking this website since last few weeks. Can anyone explain how its possible for 9k Photo 41.44 Billion Views if the world populations is 8.06 Billion. I
I am curious to understand the algorithm here.

The photo views calculations are based on counting how many times a photo has been requested from the Maps servers.
When you search for restaurants on Google Maps a set of 20 restaurants will be moved from the server to your devices’ memory.
Should you chose to scroll down beyond the first 20 restaurants, another batch of restaurants each with its cover photo will automatically be requested and downloaded.
Should you chose to not scroll down there will be some photos that got downloaded but actually not viewed by a person. And sometimes there are more people looking at your screen.
So there is certainly some inaccuracy in the view counters. But this is what we got.
If you thought views were only counted when people click on an image to see it in full screen you would be wrong.
Think about how many photos flicker past your own eyes in a session when you use Google Maps.

It’s a great site, but guide ranking is based on photo views, which just seems odd. And you can only order guides by limited categories. But the owner can set it up as they please : )

@AbhijeetBhose I don’t understand your comparison with the world population. The 41.44 Billion Views means the total number since this guy posted the very first photo or video to Google Maps, but we don’t know, how long ago this was.
However, looking more closely to the statistics at that site, we see he gained 8.666.523 during the last 30 days. This is 288.884 additional views per day and in average 32 more views per media daily. So, what is your point?
Btw, the number one in @AdamGT’s leader boards appears at position 5 here.
I am sure, @MortenCopenhagen knows more than I do, but I am not aware, if Google ever published what exactly they are counting. For sure, they did count much higher numbers before February 7, 2024 compared to now., which certainly helped to reach the 41.440.783.410 views today.

You can open our Maps profiles from the site. I think I saw that the 41B guy has not uploaded new photos since a year ago.
He has 9K photos on Maps. And gets less than 8M new views per month.
I’m getting more double that:
You may also want to check average views/photo.
The 41B guy uploaded many drone shots or maybe such photos were not his own
