[Photo Tips] What is Silhouette Photography - TravellerG

Hi dear all,

While you enjoy reading some useful Tips, let us promote few LGs, who have talents, but are shy to present in Connect.

Our LG Hidy ( @hidaytrahman ) has done this experiment with his mobile, which tempted me to publish, this post - I request you to convey your appreciation to Hidy, by Tagging him (after all we are friends - thanks for your support to LG Hidy)

What is Silhouette Photograph?

A dark Image of a Person or an Object, against a bright background. In other words, a scene containing one or more objects, which has defined outline & usually with dark interior. We use this type of photography to show (any or mixed) drama, emotion, mood or mystery or other special effects! (Ex. A floating dancer or Yoga person, against a sunset, etc.)

I thank our LG Hidy, who is a growing Photographer & a team member of our grooming group. He has lot of interest in conducting experiments with camera and mobile! I have noticed his talents & hence publishing 2 Stills & a Video of Silhouette Photography – I am sure, you will like it.

Can I request you too, to kindly try Silhouette & publish in the comments, please?

Hints:

  1. Keep HDR Off
  2. Opt morning or evening timing
  3. Best in Manual Mode; but surely you can do it using Mobile & that too in AUTO Mode. (Hidy has done these shoots, using his Samsung Note 8, manual mode)

If you need further guidance – follow our next post on “How to shoot Silhouette Photos”. It is very interesting!!

Hidy joins me to convey his regards to you all and requests for your feedback & suggestions.

Dear Moderators @sonnyNg @BorrisS @PoliMC & @MoniDi , Level 10 LGs @AdamGT , @KashifMisidia & @user_not_found and our LGs @Trkatel @shantanu-kaizen , hope you will enjoy this post and spare few seconds to inspire Hidy.

Hi @TravellerG

That’s distinctly useful information & an excellent introduction to a new style of photography.
You have suggested to keep HDR off. But, is it beneficial to use any kind of bracketing?

Kudos to @hidaytrahman also for the shots.

Hello @TravellerG ,

And thank you for tagging me in your post. Great tips and advice!

Usually I find it really hard to take photos of a silhouette because there are a lot of objects that distract the mind from it. When I was in the desert, I finally managed to take a decent photo. Here it is:
