I live in Botswana, a middle income, developing nation in Southern Africa. Though urban centres are developing fast and growing with infrastructure, a lot of Botswana still remains rural. I have have begun a Photo Series showcasing some of the old and somewhat forgotten places in rural villages and towns around Botswana, to show case how much character some of these places have in their visual aesthetic and how they make these places unique. I call it Random Places because I identify the places to shoot randomly as I may be visiting or passing through a village whilst on other business.
Please note that this a work in progress as i continue to visit and add more places to the Photo Series.
This is an interesting project, @KennethMiddleton - I couldn’t tell in all of the images, but are most of these places out of business? Would you say that these structures differ a lot from the newer infrastructure that is becoming more prevalent in the urban centers of Botswana? I think it is cool to bring awareness to the businesses that may be in these rural areas. Looking forward to more photos!
Only a couple of these places are out of business. Most of them are operational. You are right, I should some of these place to the map. I have mostly been focusing on adding places in the urban areas. Yes these look nothing like all the new building even those popping un in the rural areas. Thanx.
