Our photo of the week is this photo taken at Siri Coffee in Hosahalli, Karnataka, India by Local Guide Local Guide Mahendra Chaitanya K. Not only do we love that this is a beautiful and colorful representation of the sculpture, this image is effective because it follows the rule of thirds.
This photography guideline states that an image should be divided by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines. The most important compositional elements (in this case, the face of the sculpture) should be placed at an intersection of these lines. This technique diversifies the photo and can add more interest than photos that are shot straight-on with the subject centered.
How do we select the Photo of the Week?
The Local Guides Photo of the Week is chosen based on a variety of criteria. Location, subject matter, and image quality factor into our selection, but view counts do not. Learn more about high quality photography and lighting tips to increase your chances of being selected. Featured photos are taken by actual Local Guides around the world who have uploaded them to places on Google Maps.
Photos of the week do not need to be taken that week. Have an old photo you want to nominate for a future feature? Let us know in the comments below.
Indeed, a beautiful and colorful representation of the sculpture. As an aesthete, I hope to better my skills by taking more photos from different angles using multiple lightening.
Among my work from yesterday’s editing: The Accra Ghana Temple on landscape.
I edited this using the few little tips fellow Googlers and local guides share on here.
To mention a few, I learnt the cropping of unwanted digital noise using Snapseed as suggested by @DanniS , also the use of grid lines by another tip that I followed, the lightening tips and so on.
All of the tips everyone share here, albeit small, are highly appreciated, thank you.
Hello @KatieMcBroom thank you for sharing the beautiful photograph and the photography tips!
I’d like to nominate two of my photos that I captured while I dined at the Pier Restaurant and Lounge, Kado-Kuchi, Abuja. You can find my post about this place here.
