This Photo of the Week, captured by Local Guide 艾伯特, was taken at 北海道神宮 (Hokkaido Shrine), a Shinto shrine located in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. We love the entire composition, especially the interesting angle of the shot and the use of snow-covered trees to fill the frame.
How do we select the Photo of the Week?
The Local Guides Photo of the Week is chosen based on a variety of criteria. Location, subject matter, and image quality factor into our selection, but view counts do not. I think this Shrine photo from last winter.
I’m a local guide in Sapporo Hokkaido and I’m a professional tour guide for foreign tourists. I went to Hokkaido Shrine recently with international tourists though Hokkaido is a lack of snow since the end of last year because of the warm winter. It’s difficult to see this kind of beautiful snow scenery for now. While ski areas especially Niseko is seriously affected due to the short of snow right now. It’s concerned whether the Sapporo snow festival will be held due to lack of snow in Feb.
@YumiSapporo photo is beautiful and thank you for the clarifications, but I thought it was a recent photo.
Unfortunately, in my country it is a warm winter without snow
Thank you very much
Niseko is the most famous ski resort in Japan and there are a large number of foreigners during winter. Usually, there is having tons of light powder snow in winter.
From Sapporo to Niseko it takes 2 hours 30 minutes by car. I’m going there this weekend as well with my guests.
We look forward to the snow with incredible anticipation around ski resorts in Hokkaido.
I studied a little on the internet about Niseko and saw that it is exceptional
Now I understand why Japanese ski jumpers are so good.
I hope it will be snow on the mountains for your guests.
Thanks a lot for the information
@KatieMcBroom beautiful photo of snow. You can literally feel the cold as you walk through the shot. I have only been lucky enough to walk through snow on a handful of times.
Thanks for this post and it is always good to know how to improve our photos. I am wondering how I could achieve some perks from local guides? Recently, I have achieved 1 million views of my photos and I have been an active contributor but never get any perks and I just moved to Japan, Fukuoka City and I’d like to start my own community here so I would really appreciate your assistance. I just realised that many business in Japan don’t use google reviews, so I have meet 2 business owner that they are keen to get some stickers and add on their doors and improve their business using google services. I found that in Australia, Canada and US, you can get request marketing and stickers to add on your business but not in Japan. I am really keen to help more business in this area, so far I have done a few reviews and my photos in a short few days have reached thousand views.
wow, you seem all geared up for a big adventure. I think I have seen this photo somewhere else as well or perhaps on Connect in other posts.
As we notice that you share this particular photo a lot, could you please tell us about it? Perhaps a post with the story behind this great adventure ?
On a side note, you are one lucky guy, you got all those great phones, that is serious investment and dedication
