Perhentian Islands

Perhentian Islands consist of 2 main islands - literally and locally called Big Island and Small Island.

The Small Island of Perhentian is where where most activities occurred. There’s a small fishing village with school, masjid, shops and where the support workers live. At the other end of the village, there’s a nice white sandy beach called “Long Beach” where most western tourists stay - chalet, affordable backpacker hostels and other cool joints to hang out and chill.

On the Big Island, on the other hand, supports only hospitality meaning only chalet, hotels and diving centers.

Reaching There:

all transportation from the main land to the Islands is through The Jetty - Kuala Besut, Terengganu.

1. Air - Closest airport is KBR - Kota Bharu. About an hour flight from KUL-Kuala Lumpur. About 45 min drive from the airport to the Jetty.

2. Bus - 7hr ride from Kuala Lumpur to the jetty.

3. Car - 4-5 hr drive from Kuala Lumpur to the jetty.

4. Boat - from Kuala Besut Jetty to the island is about 20minutes. 35minutes if your boatman is busy talking to you ?

Thanks for your feedback @InaS .

Yeay! I’m getting a hang of this interface, and managed to edit it.

To get to Perhentian Island, the best way is to reach thru Kuala Besut Jetty at Terengganu.

The jetty can be reach either by a bus ride 8 hrs from TBS (Bus terminal) or take a flight to KLIA2 to Kota Bharu, Kelantan in an under hour flight.

It is recommended not to take Terengganu Airport as it’s more further away in 1hr 30mins.
