Thank you for sharing interesting information and the photo collage of Patra.
Do you also get a tour guide at this place?
Congratulations on posting your first article @Coriolanus02 and welcome to the wonderful world of LG Connect ![]()
Additionally, I would also suggest changing the setting to display the picture in a larger size - that would look awesome.
Also, if you haven’t already, take some time to introduce yourself to the local guides community by commenting on this article.
Thanks a lot Tushar_Suradkar. Thank you for your compliment’s and i’ll try more, as much as i’m useing the up, 'cause i just start it as a hobby and i really still don’t know exactly how it work’s. (but i’m learning) In other word’s, i can be a tour guide, not just for the city of Patras, but for much more places - in Greece (Firtst) but for much more places yet, 'cause i was crazy with traveling and beyont that, i was study in Italy (that i have origine’s also), then in France (Lion), then at U.K. (Bournemouth), Brazil (Rio, Salvador & Porto siguro), and more places that my work send me, as a war coresponder and camera man. (Jiugoslavia, Rouanda, Palaistine - 2ont Intifanta - Irak, Sudan (south) and others … So, as you can imagine my answer in your request for rightng an introduce, are some thing’s that are not so pleasant for the others to hear. I’ll try to put something tipical but not a lot of detail’s. I’v said those thing’s to you, mostly because you toled me about my city and for articl’s … As far as consern my city and the ancient history of Greece (and not only), it’s one of my favorit hobby’s, i’m studing ancient relegion’s for more then three decate’s - it’s my passion - so, of course i know all the ‘secret’ and ‘sacred’ pleces of my home land. P.S. I’ll try to chenge the size of my photo’s, but do not expect many article’s, 'cause as you can see, my English are not at the “level” that used to be … Eaven so, i’ll try to keep it as normal, as possible. Greeting’s Tushar, be well and live a life in peace and harmony. ![]()
- From 1.200 b.c. after the end of Trojian war the city, and all Greece was exostid from power’s and resurses, so the Finician’s took the control of Mediterranium sea, for less than three centurie’s. Was then, when the city felt into limbo, 'cause of that void that the long war left bihand … When, after 300 years Greece start to take the control of the sea back from Finician’s and the traid start with the colonie’s again, from Karhidona, to Egypt, and the rest of Meditteranium again, then Patras was into the path of Olympia, - the south root - the City State’s that where in charge at the time (Korinthos, Sparta, Argos, Athens and Thives), they left Patras out of their deferencie’s ‘cause of her geopolitic status. It was after 800 hdrt year’s - when the war’s between the city states, with the Persian empair later, and with the Roman ocupation, that the city of Patras was important agian, as the main port from Italy to Greece. So, the Roman’s make the city strong again, with arenas, theatres, and Hipodromio (horse raising arena). The Akropolis (Castle in our time’s), that i have the photo’s bellow, where connected with underground corridor’s, with the Theatre and the Hipodromion. *The Theatre in the photo’s was - by Roman command - when “peace” came (“Pax Romana”) made at the end of first centurie a.c. In our day’s it’s working at the summer festival and it’s open to the public every day, untill 14:00 o’ clock.
Thank you for sharing wonderful information and some amazing pictures.
Additionally, I’d suggest using the @ tool to address local guides as I have done in the first line.
When you type the @ symbol, a list of local guides appears in a list and you can choose a name from it.
This sends an instant email notification to the local guide about your message and this helps streamline the conversation.
