One day, on a cold afternoon in Lagos, Nigeria; I walked into one of my favorite restaurants; ‘De Tastee Fried Chicken’ ? (you can eat here for as low as $3) and saw that there was a new ‘combo meal plan’ on the menu; “Pasta Papu” ?
Heaven knows! I love 'combo’ meal plans especially when they come cheap ??. So, I walked straight to the Food counter, made my selection, placed an order, made payment and took my Pasta.
I sat to eat and to my greatest astonishment; I did not drop my fork until I finished the food and with relish too ??! This was a record for a Picky eater like me! I mean! How many times does one try out a new dish at a restaurant and return completely satisfied?
I began to look forward to my ‘Pasta Papu experience’ each time I visited Tastee fried Chicken. However, with this ‘lockdown’, relishing my Pasta Papu at my favorite restaurant is a tall order ?.
So, yesterday, I asked my ‘Girl’; “Can you make ‘Stir fried Pasta’?” She had no clue, So I asked her to make me something with;
- Spaghetti
- tomato purée
- Crayfish
- Vegetable oil
- salt
- seasoning cubes
- Curry and Thyne
- Fresh pepper and onions
She came up with this!!!
I stared at the dish she had just prepared! She had come up with my beloved 'Pasta Papu’! ??? I was overwrought with joy at the sight and completely satisfied with her skills.
This is the reason I do not bother giving so many instructions when I am not making my own meals. I believe ‘Cooking is an art which is best explored by its artist’. When you give your Cook the liberty to make your meals without stifling their creativity, you give them a whole level of freedom that reflects in the dish prepared.???
Now, that’s a mouthful!
