I recently went to Paraíba in northeast Brazil and was surprised by the beauty and safety of the city of João Pessoa. The beaches of Tambaú and Cabo Branco (where I stayed) have a busy waterfront, with kiosks, shops and a craft fair. The Food Park Cabo Branco is a great gastronomic option, with several food trucks and a huge variety of foods. The most beautiful and popular walks are the Seixas Natural Pools, the Picãozinho Natural Pools and the Areia Vermelha Island. All are close to the coast, with only 10 minutes by boat or catamaran. They have beautiful natural scenery and a visible marine fauna, without the need of diving. The most famous promenade is the Sunset on Jacaré beach (which is actually a river) on the north coast, where at nightfall a famous musician, Jurandir of the Sax, plays Ravel’s Bolero on the saxophone, near the pier. The experience is magical. The municipalities of Cabedelo and Conde also have beautiful beaches. I had an amazing trip and plan to return.
