Shivanasamudram-Mysore**:** We had visited Shivanasamudram in Mysore district during July-2018; it is really awesome and beautiful to watch the panoramic view of water stream splits into two. The Shivanasamudra falls are formed on the flow of Cauvery River emerging from the birth place of Talakaveri, Bagamandala, Kodagu District emerging in the State of Karnataka, which is also a beautiful place and must visit for the tourists.
A little distance before the falls, the river splits into two, forming an island. The two streams falls down to the same point and flows downstream. The two falls are called Gagana Chukki (90 metres), Bhara Chukki (69 metres). The two falls are really majestic in the monsoon season, we had visited in monsoon time got a beautiful live picture of this place. The first one is Gagana Chukki and has a Dargah near it. The water flow here is quite rapid and it is dangerous to swim here, especially during monsoon season when the river is in its fullest.
The second falls is called Bhara Chukki. If the conditions are right (not too much water) then you can walk/trek all the way down to the falls and have a nice swim. Locate a nice shallow area and wade in. We had carried our own lunch inside one of the oldest Mary’s Basilica Church and enjoyed munching the snacks and natural sour taste of the goose berries and mangoes dipped in salt and spices
