Palace of Jujhar Singh, Orchha.

Palace of Jujhar Singh, Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, India.

During the reign of Vir Singh Dev, Orchha attained prosperity and glory as Vir Singh was a very close associate of Emperor Jahangir and he was a great patron of art and architecture. Jujhar Singh Mahal is one such secular structure and a magnificent palace located opposite to the Palki Mahal.
Jujhar Singh palace was constructed by Maharaja Vir Singh Bundela. It is said that King Vir Singh built nine palaces for his sons called Nau Chouwky. Jujhar Singh palace was one among those. The three-storeyed palace built in rectangular plan, having large hall and rooms at ground floor. There are three square rooms topped with ribbed domes on its octagonal base. It is built in Bundeli architecture.
Visitors can admire its architecture from outside as it’s not open for tourists. I noticed that it’s in excellent condition as the middle portion is allotted to one Judge as his official residence.
