Overwhelmed by Emails! Here’s the what’s Happening …

Dear Local Guides & Fellow Moderators,
First of all, I’d like to express my heartfelt appreciation for this vibrant Connect community. It’s an incredible space to learn, share and celebrate our Local Guide journeys.

However, I’m facing an unexpected challenge that I believe others might also relate to.

Every day, I receive dozens, Sometimes hundreds of Emails from various Local Guide Members and Moderators of the Local Guides Connect platform. While many of these are helpful or celebratory, A large portion appears repetitive, irrelevant or even spammy.

This constant inflow not only clutters my Gmail inbox but also fills up my Google Drive storage quota rather frequently. I’m forced to delete, block or filter messages almost daily- Which interrupts my workflow and user experience.

I worry that important or authentic communications may get buried among these. Some even appear suspiciously like phishing or spam messages.

I’d kindly request:

  1. Can the community or moderators provide tips to manage these emails more effectively?

  2. Could there be better email preference controls or batch unsubscribe options?

  3. Is it possible to identify and remove potential spammers sending irrelevant messages to mass users?

I love being a part of this community and want to continue participating without this burden. Hope this post opens a discussion that benefits others too!

Hello @RafikSikder ,

You can manage and even stop emails from connect platform by checking the settings.
Go to profile page

Open edit
Select mail and change the setting as you prefer

Thank you for bringing up this concern, @RafikSikder. Personally, I haven’t faced this issue. I usually glance at the sender and subject line before opening any email. If it doesn’t seem relevant or important, I delete it directly without opening. This simple practice helps me keep my inbox clean and focused.
But I’m a bit worried—how did the sender get your email address? As far as I know, no one can access your email on Connect unless you’ve shared it with them directly.

Thank you so much for your kind response and helpful suggestion. I truly appreciate you taking the time to guide me through this. I wasn’t fully aware of the mail settings before but thanks to your advice, I’ve now updated my preferences as needed.

This will definitely make my experience on the Connect platform much smoother and more enjoyable. Grateful to be a part of such a supportive community!

Yes, your method of scanning the sender and subject line is quite effective and I will definitely try to follow it. Regarding the concern-Honestly, I’m also unsure how so many unsolicited emails made their way into my inbox. I’ve never knowingly shared my email publicly on Connect.

Some emails appear to be automated or perhaps generated through third-party bots. That’s why I raised this issue- To understand if anyone else might be facing the same or if it’s something that needs further moderation attention.

On the new connect there are a ton of settings related to notifications. More than i will ever need to be honest.

Currently, I have turned off all email notifications because, I prefer to just visit Connect regularly.
