Out and about Calgary

Exploring is in my blood; my grandparents travelled the world on horseback and boat. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to roam and travel my whole life and have seen 70 countries to date.

I stumbled upon Google Maps while travelling, immediately connecting with the app thanks to the value it provided. It was a graceful progression from finding directions to evolving into a regular contributor to the Local Guides program. I loved the ability to review and began seeking new places to explore and share. The Local Guides program provided me with a platform to share my honest, unfiltered opinion of places I have been to, especially restaurants.

The Guides program is fun and engaging, as my points grew, I engaged more. Before I knew it, I was at level 9. It was a eureka moment. I find it very rewarding that others can make informed decisions based on my photos and perspectives. Google has enabled me to do what I absolutely love. Travel, take pictures, and eat!

The community aspect of the Local Guides program is an extra-powerful bonus. I love that I can share what I have learned and experienced while learning from others, most of whom I’ve never met!

The Local Guides program has enabled me to keep learning. With improved tools and more Guide connections, I can do even more, because I found a group of like-minded people with a passion for adventure and a desire to help their community.

The Guide community is full of people I can now call friends. People who enjoy sharing their perspective of the world while assisting others who are curious, exploring and wanderlust. Being a Google guide has enhanced and expanded the possibilities of what I can do and share. With this incredible opportunity in October, I feel like I’m just getting started.

My name is Dale Jackson, and I’m from the mountain city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Life is short. Be yourself. Travel, eat and enjoy! Seek out new things and let Googlers assist you. My mission in life is to boldly go where I have yet to be, only this time, I get to take the world with me, thanks to Google.
