Hi @Dracenfals1 .

Thank you for sharing your photos with us. Can you swim in the lake? I see in the photos some boats. Are they available for renting?

You can check out What makes a good post? which lays out the best practices for writing a good post on Connect.

Hi,

Yes you can swim in the lake, there are a number of public beaches and many motels where you can also swim, there are motor boats for rental as well as some sailboats, it’s a very nice lake

Thank you for your prompt reply @Dracenfals1 . Are there any kind of activities you can do?

Just as a reminder, don’t forget when responding to others make sure to tag them (by writing @ before their names) in a post so they can receive notifications that you are communicating with them.

Hi @InaS Yes there are many activities to do, Cooperstown, which is at the end of Otsego lake, is the home of The National Basebal Hall of Fame, a must see place that is if you are a baseball fan.

The following should give you a good idea of some things to do around the Cooperstown area;

From baseball to the best of American Art, experience the many sides of Cooperstown at these top area attractions:

  • The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum – Perhaps Cooperstown’s biggest “claim to fame,” the Hall of Fame is one of the area’s most popular attractions. After strolling through its unique exhibitions, take in a game at Doubleday Field or stop by the Heroes of Baseball Wax Museum.
  • The Fenimore Art Museum – Find inspiration at one of the nation’s premier art institutions, showcasing a diverse display of genres ranging from 20th century American Art, to traditional American Indian Art, coupled with lecture series, workshops and educational opportunities.
  • The Glimmerglass Festival – One of Cooperstown’s hidden gems, the internationally-acclaimed summer opera festival will delight opera buffs and novices alike with classic performances and modern renditions in the beautiful lakeside setting of the Glimmerglass’ Alice Busch Theater.
  • The Farmers’ Museum – Perhaps of one of the few remaining places in America where you can truly “step back in time,” the Farmers’ Museum brings American history to life right before your eyes. Experience life on the farm at Lippitt Farmstead, explore the Historic Village and more.
  • Brewery Ommegang – One of America’s most innovative craft breweries, sample Belgian-style brews at this beautiful farmstead brewery. Ommegang – “walking around” in Old Flemish – encourages its guests to do just that with tastings, tours, delicious food and ongoing events.
  • Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard – Taste your way through over 40 specialty food products – yes, you can literally taste them all – sample delicious cider, and more at Fly Creek Cider Mill – tantalizing taste buds for more than 150 years.

Even if baseball is not your favorite thing, there are many things to do near Cooperstown, also there are many Wineries and Breweries to choose from and if you are willing to travel, not too far is the heart of New Yorks wine country, there you will find many many Wineries.

Fly Creek Cider Mill is my favorite, almost every food in the store you can sample.

So @InaS , to answer your question, yes there are many things to do in Cooperstown, for me just a 40 minute drive too!!

Looking forward for more posts from you.

No problem @InaS , it’s not the most exciting place but it’s nice during the summer, where are you from?

If I have the possibility, I will visit it @Dracenfals1 . I am from Albania.

Hi @InaS , I read that you have some interesting castles in Albania, do you live near any? Nothing like that here.

I do live in a city with a castle @Dracenfals1 . It is called Elbasan and it is in the very center of Albania. The castle it is located in the center of the city and the famous Via Egnatia (Egnatia way) passes through the castle.

Kalaja e Krujes (Kruja Castles) is one of my favorite ones. Inside the castle there is a history museum which is worth to visit. There are a lot of other castles to visit around Albania.

Hi @InaS , that’s really cool, I love castles, your area is so rich with history, the Kalaja e Krujes (Kruja Castles) is really nice, I can’t believe that they could build something so big without modern machines, the views are awesome too, I’d love to visit someday, I think I’d overload my phone with pictures though.

We don’t have anything like that here, there are several “castles” here in New York but not like yours.

Those are two of my favorites, you can find more here;

Basically they aren’t the same kind of castles as yours but more of very large houses, they make nice day trips during the summer.

That’s where we keep our memories nowadays, in photos @Dracenfals1 . I suggest you to go to the seaside as well. I am sure you will enjoy your trip in Albania.
