Last weekend was Open House, London. It’s the one weekend per year when hundreds of private and corporate buildings are opened especially for public visits.
Did you go? If yes, do share some pics.
Here’s Fitzrovia Chapel, one of London’s hidden gems. Pass it by on the outside and you’d never know the inside looked this way -
That is so cool! This is the first time that I hear about the Open House. Is there a specific date for it or they organise it depending on some other events around that time of the year? By the way, the chapel looks very mysterious and kind of magical. Thank you for taking such a nice photo that represents its beauty.
@MoniDi , Open House is held annually during one weekend per year. For those keen to know more, the organisers have a website which can be found via a quick internet search.
I like to mix and match adventures. If you think the chapel looked mysterious, do check my next port of call during that weekend - Millenium Mills (below). It’s a series factories in London’s Docklands, previously owned by companies like Spillers Distillery and Tate & Lyle, left derelict since the 1980’s.
Visitor numbers strictly limited, we were guided onto two floors only - the 4th and 10th/roof.
I’ll likely add a few more pics from the experience another time. Meanwhile, enjoy… and don’t be having any nightmares!
Thank you for the additional photos. I love every one of them. You’ve managed to capture the dark and gloomy vibe of the area. And even though you had limited access to the buildings, you saw enough to get the feeling of mystery. I wanted to share a photo of an old train station which resembles a deserted area but some trains still pass by it. Here it is:
@MoniDi yours seems perfect for a photoshoot or even film set. Where is it, and did you go take a closer look?
I’m mystified and quite disappointed that besides myself, it seems nobody in or around Google Local Guides visited Open House London venues this year!
Here’s how things looked from the rooftop of the deserted factory. In this instance, near everybody is facing one direction because London City Airport runway occupies the next plot of land.
I took this picture in one of the neighbourhoods in Sofia. I am not aware of any movies that used this place as a decor but this is actually a very good idea. When it comes to photo shoots, I took several selfies and waited for the sunset to take some cool shots.
I should go to the airport in Sofia and see if I could capture the air planes just like you did.
