Onion Fritters - Monsoon Special Snack.

Hello dear all LGS…

I hope all are safe and healthy…

Fritter is word derived from late Latin Frictura. The meaning of this is “a fry”. And Frictura which was derived from the Latin verb Fringere, meaning “to fry”. My this post is about one of the famous Fritter in Mumbai during monsoon, as rainy weather makes us to eat such fritter due to atmosphere.

Here in Mumbai… monsoon is on the way :cloud_with_rain: :cloud_with_lightning_and_rain: :cloud_with_rain: :cloud_with_lightning_and_rain: . During such rainy season, the famous Fritters which is best to eat with tea isOnion Fritter :yum: :yum: :yum: . I have made this fritter on the first rain in Mumbai on 3rd June 2020. It’s very simple and many of us may know it very well as it’s very famous.

Ingredients:

  1. Gram Flour : 2 Bowl
  2. Onions :onion::onion: : 2 medium size
  3. Cumins seeds : 1 :spoon: Teaspoon
  4. Ajwain (Carom seeds) : 1 :spoon: Teaspoon
  5. Red Chill :hot_pepper: :hot_pepper: Powder : 1 :spoon: Teaspoon
  6. Turmeric Powder : 1/2 :spoon: Teaspoon.
  7. Refined oil : 2 cup
  8. Salt to taste :yum: And 1 cup water.

Method:

  1. Chop the onion vertically as shown.

  1. In vessel, put Gram flour, chopped onions, Cumins, Ajwain, Red Chilli :hot_pepper: Powder, turmeric powder and salt. And add gradually water in the mixture and mix it well. Make sure that the batter is smooth. Batter should not be too runny nor too thick.

  1. In deep bottomed pan, pour 2 cup refined oil on medium flame. On heating of oil, add teaspoonful of batter in it and fry the fritters till it get Golden brown colour. Once done, put it on tissue paper to absorb excess oil.

  1. Enjoy the Onion Fritter with Tea in Balcony or window with raining outside. This fritter can be serve with any deep of your choice or fried and salted green chilies. I enjoyed it with chillies :yum: :yum: :yum: .

I hope this may find useful for you all.

Enjoy the fritters in upcoming monsoon.
