Hello Local Guides ![]()
It’s hard to believe that it has already been one year since I started the She Leads series. What began as a simple idea to celebrate the remarkable women who enrich our community has grown into something far more meaningful than I ever imagined.
Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of speaking with incredible women from across the globe from Canada, USA, India, Indonesia, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Croatia, Nigeria, Mexico, Ukraine, Argentina, Kenya, and Germany. Each conversation was unique. Every woman had her own leadership style, her own journey, and her own quiet yet powerful way of contributing to the Local Guides community.
She Leads is not about overlooking or diminishing the incredible contributions of men in our community. Instead, it is about intentionally creating space building a path where more women feel seen, heard, and encouraged to participate. It is about representation, visibility, and motivation. When women see other women leading, hosting meet-ups, driving initiatives, and making an impact, it inspires confidence and belonging. By uplifting more voices, we strengthen the entire community because inclusion does not divide us, it empowers us all to grow together.
What touched me most is that many of these women had been part of our community for years, consistently contributing, supporting, and uplifting others yet often without much spotlight. Some are incredible cheerleaders. Some are lifelong learners. Some host fun and engaging meet-ups. Others are passionate advocates for accessibility and sustainability. Discovering their stories felt like finding hidden gems on Connect just like we discover hidden gems on the map.
My goal in starting and continuing this series has always been simple: to remind every woman in our community that her contribution matters. Your story matters. The photos you upload, the reviews you write, the meet-ups you host, the encouragement you give, they create ripples far beyond what you may realize.
Over the past year, I’ve also seen inspiring initiatives led by women, for women meet-ups, challenges, and creative projects that encourage participation and visibility. It reinforces my belief that small ideas, when nurtured with intention, can create meaningful change.
As we step into another year of She Leads, I hope to take this initiative even further reaching more voices, sharing more journeys, and building even stronger connections within our community. We can work together to create a map that is safer, more inclusive, and more reliable for women, a map built not just with locations, but with care, awareness, and responsibility. At the same time, we can continue nurturing a community where women spark inspiration, uplift one another, and build strong, meaningful connections. When we collaborate, share knowledge, and lead with empathy, we don’t just improve the map we strengthen the entire Local Guides community.
I especially want to thank every woman and supporter whether your story has been featured yet or is still waiting to be told because YOU are valuable to this community. Your contributions, big and small, help shape the Local Guides experience and make this space more inclusive, fun, and meaningful for everyone.
Thank you for inspiring me, and thank you for inspiring each other. Here’s to another year of celebrating leadership, passion, and purpose.
