One step closer to returning our lives back to Pre-COVID-19

Hello @RosyKohli

Well-done !!! That’s a bold step you have taken to get the 1st dose of the jab. You did well to share it and nice pictures too. The accessibility features you noted were good too, you have done well.

Wonder when the 2nd dose will be?

Keep safe always even after the vaccine.

Cheers

Congrats @RosyKohli on starting the process of getting vaccinated! My mom and her generation are all completely vaccinated so I feel more at ease when she is out in public. We as a family are still wearing masks in public (shopping, doing errands, going to the zoo, etc) because our area still requires us (both businesses and local goverment) to do so.

A friend of mine was told by a Starbucks barista to put on her mask as soon as she walked in the Starbucks I was sitting and waiting for her in to drink coffee inside in over a year! For me, it is going to take awhile to stop wearing a mask in public. It’s more about the strangers (people) around me who I don’t know are vaccinated or not and to keep my twins safe and healthy since they are too young to get vaccinated.

The world is slowly getting closer to the “finish line” – hopefully 2022 will be a better year for most of the world.

Stay safe and healthy!

Cheers,

Karen

Covid 19 Vaccination: Local Guide - Tony

@KarenVChin

Finally, my turn, and much of the rest of us foreigners, came to receive the much-coveted and anticipated vaccine. It has taken the general population nearly 7 months and thousands of needless deaths to receive. The wheels of bureaucracy move SLOWLY here in Japan and patience matters. Those of us receiving the vaccine are on our first dose; 2nd dose will be in August. The only people left are the anti-vaxxers who are mainly teens and the 20something crowd who fear a post-apocalyptic world full of zombies who took the shot.

In the U.S. it seems like you just drive up and get a shot without having to leave your car, in Japan, absolutely not! You have to book a month in advance then show up with your medical history and last medical check-up. You have to shuffle around to nearly a dozen different booths for screening then you finally get your shot - no candy offered. Then they make you sit down in a holding area for 30 minutes in case side effects appear. The heart attack was the biggest concern.

False claims and misinformation abound over here in Japan too, especially through social media platforms that erode public trust amongst the youth. The older generation was the first-in-line to receive their doses of Moderna and Pfizer with no hesitancy. The governments’ original target was to finish large-scale inoculations by November as it pursues herd immunity. Not sure if this will work.

( " Wait…I can feel my DNA changing as a type… My teeth are growing and my arms are becoming hairy. ")

To be continued…

Hi @user_not_found ,

thank you for sharing with us your experience in getting the Covid-19 vaccination, it is indeed a very happy thing hoping to be out of this all together very soon.

It is also interesting to read the differences in every country in the procedures for it, here in Italy for example is very similar to you because we need to book, get a date and fill some paper prior to the appointment, not much complex screening but no drive-trough for vaccination although we are pushing the easily manageable ones (not mRNA) via pharmacies and / or with open days without booking, always at dedicated locations.

Anyway I’m merging your post into a single one talking about getting Covid-19 vaccination in order to keep Connect organized.

Thank you and happy guiding, you have now super powers  .
