Ever had the experience of living in a place for years and suddenly finding out an unexpectedly good place out of the blue which you have not even seen or heard before? Exactly what happened to me. After so many years living in Kuala Lumpur, a few days back, walking through town center, Google Maps (Explore Nearby) suggested this fairly old local restaurant which had very high reviews, low price and a huge review following. I have never heard or noticed this place before, so, a friend and I went.

Parking was difficult as it was located on a main trunk road with no parking at all. Possibly another reason why I had not noticed. Customers who drive have to park around some back alley some distance away. It was Sunday 2.30pm, after usual lunch time. Surprised to see a fairly long queue still outside the restaurant. Must be good right? Fingers crossed.
This place is a Nasi Kandar restaurant, which meant, they serve rice with separate Indian Muslim dishes/condiments to go with the rice. When it got to our turn, we had 2 plates of rice, drenched with multiple thick and spicy curries, servings of steamed okra, beef, chicken, egg, and a huge serving of papadam (lentil crackers). It was a self service restaurant where we ordered and picked up our own food. The restaurant was air conditioned and was rather packed to the brim. Thank goodness a family just got up and we quickly took our place.
I must say, I totally enjoyed the delicious curries that smothered the rice, and the fried chicken and beef was really fresh, tender and excellent. And all that food (which was more than enough for 2 person), with 2 tall glasses of ice lemon tea, in an air-conditioned restaurant, came to about MYR 22 inclusive taxes and all, which is about USD 5. Amazing value, really.
It has been such an amazing experience depending on Maps to nearby food suggestions.
