Old School Friends Hiked Yercaud Hills.

Old school Friends went trekking

I am Arun N and my best friends are Mr.Hari & Mr.Elango. We planned to hike Yercaud Hills, So one month before we Booked Train tickets Chennai to Salem and hotel bookings.
We have waited for that day anxiously.
The day has also arrived. We assembled in Egmore Railway Station and we took Chennai Salem express around 10.30 p.m.

Next-Day early morning around 5 o clock we reached Salem Railway Station. We went to the 3rd platform from the first platform to fresh up in the A-C waiting hall. In the A-C waiting hall, they charged Rs.25 per hour. There we took a bath and left the place around 6.30 a.m.
Outside Railway Station we drink some coffee and bought some food items, water, snacks, and nuts.
Plan to Go Yercaud foothill via Hasthampatti. The total distance will be around 14 k.m. Last time we took a fast track call taxi to reach Yercaud Foothill, this time for more knowledge, outside of the railway station, we took a Bus No 13 to reach Hasthampatti. Distance will be covered around 7.5 k.m. After a 30minutes ride, we get down at Hasthampatti. There we took breakfast nearby Vegetarian Hotel.
From the Hotel, we walked around 300 meters towards yercaud Hill Road and we reached the local Bus stand. There we catch one share Auto and reached the Yercaud Adivaram around 8.15 a.m.

From this place, we have to go by walk to reach Foothills. The distance may be covered by 1k.m. We have reached the Yercaud foothills around 8.30 a.m.

From foothills, we hiked around 7k.m mud road footpath in 2hours time to reach Karuppusamy Koil banyan tree.

On the way, we saw a lot of bunches of Custard Apples and a lot of herbs.
Suddenly my friend Hari pluck around 10 Custard Apples from the trees.

Another friend Elango founds some Mudakkathan greens herbs, in that he plucks some herbs and eaten raw and also he suggest to eat, then I am also taken some bunch of leaves Mudakkathan greens and eaten by raw.

On the way we met some of the goat’s farm people, we asked them how they will manage their goats in the forest?
They replied Each and every goat wearing a bell, so we can able to find easily in the forest, some wooden gates are prepared to protect the goats and these goats will be Monitor only once in 5 days. There is no fear of theft in the forest.

After crossing the local people we continue our hiking for more than an hour and reached the Banyan tree. There we are taken some rest around 30 minutes. After the break, we eat some food items.

There interestingly, we met some local boys sincerely studying for exams, they are M.sc physics students in a local college, their group study place is that Banyan tree. We congratulated them and conveyed our wishes for their studies.

After rest, again we started to hike 11 k.m road, after started hiking we feel a little bit harder to compare mud road trials. Along the way, we saw some streams with Crystal clear water. After Guntur, we found there are so many Coffee estates. In that coffee estate, we saw pepper, a few spices and orange trees. We plucked some orange fruits to eat. Some orange fruits taste is good others are too much sour.

In November Yercaud climate is very good. On that day climate is around 23 degrees Celsius in day time and in the night time, it falls around 16 degrees Celsius.

Finally, we reached the Yercaud Ladies seat main road around 3.30 p.m. There we eat some Custer Apples and jack fruits.
Again we started our journey and reached Lady’s seat viewpoint.
From there the view is mesmerizing, the Ghat Road is clearly visible, vehicles are moving like an ant. Monkeys are roaming everywhere.
We drink some herbal soup there.
From there we walked to our hotel room to check-in, on the way we saw Yercaud Montfort International school. At that time the sky is sizzling raindrops all over the place.

We enjoyed very much, all our tiredness are gone. It is a beautiful day. Totally we hiked around 20k.m on that day. We finished the first day of hiking with a very happy note.
