October 23. Wine and Friendship Around The World - You Can’t Buy Happiness, but ...

You Can’t Buy Happiness, but You Can Buy Wine, is what you can read at the entrance of a Winery, located somewhere in the world.

My challenge for you is to find that winery. The challenge is easy, more than what you can imagine, and I am quite sure that, if you read some of my posts, you will find the answer very easily.

EDIT: some question has been already answered. For the links to the answers, check at the end of this post

In any case I will give you some indication, starting with the reason why, in my title, I wanted to mention October 23.

On 23 October 2018 I visited a vineyard, along with a Local Guide I met here in Connect, and I did the same on 23 October 2021.

I had a lot of fun both times, and we did pretty much the same things:

  • We have tasted many different wines
  • We bought a bottle of the best
  • We all went to the restaurant together

The distance between the two vineyards, according to Google Maps, is 9,649.02 km (5,995.63 mi), and the time difference is 9 hours.

Here below a collage of photos of the two places: Are you able to associate images, and tell which photos belong to which place?

I am sure that by looking closely at the barrels and pumpkins you will surely be able to understand what is where. Am I wrong?

But maybe I’m confusing you. Let’s see if with four more photos I can help you a little.

In both places we started with sparkling white wine, then moved on to a more full-bodied white, to finish with red wines. Almost by chance I took similar images, which tell the characteristics of the vineyards. Could you tell which images belong to which vineyard?

I think now the story is becoming clear :slightly_smiling_face: But to help you even more, let’s move on to the last part.

Ok, as I said, after the wine tasting we went to a local restaurant, so maybe this will help you

I put two pictures of each restaurant. One is an appetizer, one is the main course and two are the desserts. Could you associate them with each other?

Do you think you have managed to associate the places and the dishes? If so, leave your answer below, otherwise try it anyway. If you need help, ask some questions, and I’ll try to give you some further help.

If you haven’t succeeded and are feeling confused, well, it’s not your fault.

My intention is not to confuse you, but only to tell you that the world of wine has very common characteristics, and no matter where on the planet you are, if you visit wine producers you will always see the same images. Images that tell us how vast the culture of wine is. It doesn’t matter if you are in Chile, Australia, Hungary, the United States, France, Canada, Spain or Italy (just to name a few of the wine producing countries). The language of wine is only one, the same is the work that must be done in the vineyards, or in the vinification, the same are the words used.

If you produce wine, and you want to share a story or some photos, go ahead and do so. This space is also for you.

But let’s not forget the most important part: friendship.

As I said at the beginning, I never went to these places alone, but always with Local Guides that I met here in Connect. The stories of friendship that were born, and which then led to meet us (even traveling for thousands of km).

Because talking about wine also means, and above all, talking about the territory, traditions and culture.

The two places in this post, even if it doesn’t seem like it, are very different from each other, both from a climatic and historical / cultural point of view. But they share a common language and tradition: the production of wine.

Let’s toast together

EDIT: Congratulations to the ones that already answered to some of the question

1: @davidhyno - First one to give a correct answer to the following question: To which place belongs the sign on my cover photo “you can’t buy happiness …**” - If you want to try to answer too, don’t click here

2: @Gezendunyali - First one to find the two businesses in Google Maps. Congratulations :+1: . - If you want to try to answer too, don’t click here

Many other questions still be unanswered. Do you want to try?

Saludos.

Silvy.

Good attempt, @SilvyC , However I can tell you that your answer is not 100 correct.

What did you use to attempt your answer? A simple hypothesis based on the name of the places? Or an observation also on the type of pumpkins, the characteristics of the barrels, the evaluation of the colors?
Have you also done a search in Google Maps?
Or a search on my posts? That search will probably tell you not only the exact Location, but also the type of wine that you can see in the two glasses in the second series of photos, and also their link in Maps.

In addition, I have another question for you. On which of the two places is located the sign that you can see on the left in the cover photo? I know that you already have an answer for this question :slightly_smiling_face:

I agree with you, the Best food is the one we have with friends

Going by exclusion this was easy for me @ErmesT !
It was a really nice Wine-Meetup that of 2018, and I can confirm my happiness in meeting old and new LocalGuides in Treviso!

Haha, @davidhyno

Yes, I remember very well that you were with us in one of the two places, so going by exclusion it is easy for you.

So my question for you is a bit different: To which place belongs the sign on my cover photo “you can’t buy happiness …

And of course, the friendship is what is giving us happiness

From a first forensic analysis I could also deduce that the boards used for the words “You Can’t Buy Happiness, but You Can Buy Wine” are those taken from this pallet!

Did I win a glass of wine? :wine_glass:

Thanks @R-7 . Do you have an experience to share and, most important, where you able to respond to the questions and at least to locate the areas of the two places?

I know Sirince, @Gezendunyali .

As it’s so close to Selcuk, I was visiting the village on the weekend, when I had time.

They have wonderful peaches too.

However, if you read my post again, you will see that the distance between the two places is more than 9000 Km. Let say that @SilvyC is not so far. But in any case in my photos there are indications helpful for a search in Google Maps, to be able to find the exact POI of both the vineyards.

I am quite sure you can find them easily.

I want to add that both places are mentioned in some of my post about wine and, as an extra tip, I can say that @KarenVChin wrote a post about one of them

Hi @ErmesT ,

but … you can buy wine, definitely and wine stays together indeed with friends  .

I know the story behind the first vineyard in 2018 and I definitely recognize the one in 2021, well for me it was 2019 … not October, but still 23, exactly 23 of November  . We bought wines, we had friends and we had happiness all together… shame we couldn’t reorganized yet it!

Well the question isn’t easy but I follow forensic investigation of @davidhyno although I really don’t remember it, perhaps I was buying too much wine :joy: .

And for the nice memories of course I can not share a selfie with the wine in one of those wineries, well it is known where is it  .

Congratulations @davidhyno , well done

I am sure @RiccyB have a photo, taken during the 2019 meet-up, of that pallet (I saw the photo in the shared album)

You won a whole Bottle, Davide. For the ones in the bottom, just call me. For the ones in the top, I will love to go there with you, in the next years. I am sure @KarenVChin would be happy too

@ErmesT potrei rispondere esattamente alle domande, ma potrei confondermi dato che avevo bevuto… ehi il 23 ottobre 2021 c’ero io  :wine_glass: Grandiosa giornata

Great catch, @Gezendunyali

As you can see, it was not so difficult, so I am sure you have now all the information to be able to match also the photo with the pumpkins to the correct business.

@SilvyC already answered, but as she was more trying to “guess” the matching without giving a “consistent” explanation, I will not confirm if the association was correct. She said: California on Right and Treviso on Left (vertical association). Do you agree with her?

A couple of tips for making an easier search:

  • I’ve visited one of the places recently
  • I love to take 36o° photos

Yes @SilvyC , everywhere in the world the frequently use sign in English.

In a winery this is very common, because most of the time the “locals” do not have “wine tasting” in there (they already know the product). so most of the visitors are Tourists. This in my area means people mostly coming from abroad (Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, east of Europe) because the winery is at 2 hours from the border, 30 minutes from the two local Airports (Venice and Treviso), and 45 minutes from the beaches.

The most used languages in there are English and German, as the guests of the November 2019 meet–up knows very well (Yup, 23 again, @LuigiZ ).

As it seems @Gezendunyali haven’t associated the photos with the places, I will tag here @KarenVChin , because I am sure she has some funny story about taking 360 photos in here and the art of becoming invisible :slightly_smiling_face:

Yessss, November 23 2019 was absolutely super funny, and yes, the place is the same of my meet of October 23 with @PattyBlack .

Love your selfies, @LuigiZ , and this is also an opportunity for me to see the faces of some other wonderful friend.

Let me share another joining point between these three wonderful moments: A bottle of wine from my traditional “private” wine experience with @KarenVChin
