You Can’t Buy Happiness, but You Can Buy Wine, is what you can read at the entrance of a Winery, located somewhere in the world.
My challenge for you is to find that winery. The challenge is easy, more than what you can imagine, and I am quite sure that, if you read some of my posts, you will find the answer very easily.
EDIT: some question has been already answered. For the links to the answers, check at the end of this post
In any case I will give you some indication, starting with the reason why, in my title, I wanted to mention October 23.
On 23 October 2018 I visited a vineyard, along with a Local Guide I met here in Connect, and I did the same on 23 October 2021.
I had a lot of fun both times, and we did pretty much the same things:
- We have tasted many different wines
- We bought a bottle of the best
- We all went to the restaurant together
The distance between the two vineyards, according to Google Maps, is 9,649.02 km (5,995.63 mi), and the time difference is 9 hours.
Here below a collage of photos of the two places: Are you able to associate images, and tell which photos belong to which place?
I am sure that by looking closely at the barrels and pumpkins you will surely be able to understand what is where. Am I wrong?
But maybe I’m confusing you. Let’s see if with four more photos I can help you a little.
In both places we started with sparkling white wine, then moved on to a more full-bodied white, to finish with red wines. Almost by chance I took similar images, which tell the characteristics of the vineyards. Could you tell which images belong to which vineyard?
I think now the story is becoming clear But to help you even more, let’s move on to the last part.
Ok, as I said, after the wine tasting we went to a local restaurant, so maybe this will help you
I put two pictures of each restaurant. One is an appetizer, one is the main course and two are the desserts. Could you associate them with each other?
Do you think you have managed to associate the places and the dishes? If so, leave your answer below, otherwise try it anyway. If you need help, ask some questions, and I’ll try to give you some further help.
If you haven’t succeeded and are feeling confused, well, it’s not your fault.
My intention is not to confuse you, but only to tell you that the world of wine has very common characteristics, and no matter where on the planet you are, if you visit wine producers you will always see the same images. Images that tell us how vast the culture of wine is. It doesn’t matter if you are in Chile, Australia, Hungary, the United States, France, Canada, Spain or Italy (just to name a few of the wine producing countries). The language of wine is only one, the same is the work that must be done in the vineyards, or in the vinification, the same are the words used.
If you produce wine, and you want to share a story or some photos, go ahead and do so. This space is also for you.
But let’s not forget the most important part: friendship.
As I said at the beginning, I never went to these places alone, but always with Local Guides that I met here in Connect. The stories of friendship that were born, and which then led to meet us (even traveling for thousands of km).
Because talking about wine also means, and above all, talking about the territory, traditions and culture.
The two places in this post, even if it doesn’t seem like it, are very different from each other, both from a climatic and historical / cultural point of view. But they share a common language and tradition: the production of wine.
Let’s toast together
EDIT: Congratulations to the ones that already answered to some of the question
1: @davidhyno - First one to give a correct answer to the following question: To which place belongs the sign on my cover photo “you can’t buy happiness …**” - If you want to try to answer too, don’t click here
2: @Gezendunyali - First one to find the two businesses in Google Maps. Congratulations . - If you want to try to answer too, don’t click here
Many other questions still be unanswered. Do you want to try?
