Nuggehalli Temple

*Cover photo created by @jayasimha78 *

I am Jayasimha Nuggehalli, I will introduce Nuggehalli Temple in this post. Yes my last name comes from this small town (village) which is located in Karnataka State of India. I visited this temple in my recent trip to India in November of 2021. Last time I visited this temple was when I got married, which is some time back.

My ancestors are from this village, in fact my grand father and his family used to live here before they moved to bigger towns/cities pursue their career.

Picture of entrance to the temple. In fact it looks underwhelming, All the carving and the wow factor is on the sides and back of the temple.

Nuggehalli is located in Hassan District of Karnataka. It is 50 Kms from Hassan. It is around 140 Kms from Bangalore, which is capital of Karnataka. We started our journey from Bangalore in a Van which accommodates around 15 people, which included my in-laws and my wife’s aunts and uncles. It was a 2.5 hrs drive from Bangalore.

__Here is a shot of the Gopuram (monumental tower) of the temple.__Little bit of history of this temple as described in wikipedia"The Lakshmi Narasimha temple was built in 1246 CE by Bommanna Dandanayaka, a commander in the Hoysala Empire during the rule of King Vira Someshwara. It is a good example of 13th-century Hoysala architecture"

Here is a close up shot of various carvings on the outside wall of the temple

Shot from the back, carvings include elephants, various hindu gods

Amazing photos from a magnificent temple from your ancestral place @jayasimha78

The entire area spread over Belur-Halebeedu to Mysuru and beyond is blessed with an array of such beautiful temples and I was also fortunate to be able to visit these places when living in Bengaluru.

The temple in Nuggehalli has carvings comparable to those in Belur.

This is very interesting you guys have your ancestral places directly as last names.

My boss was Hanugodu but never was able to visit there during his lifetime.
