Hi all, the only reason i do local guide reviews is that i can easily take photos from my Google Photos to add to the reviews. I only do on my mac. Today the “Add photos and videos” button just pull up my Mac Upload window, not my Google Photos. I wonder why? Is it a new, permanent change or something wrong with my computer, or a temporary bug? Hi @xuxukun, welcome back to Connect! I have noticed occasional UI changes and glitches on the desktop web version of Maps as well. It might be a temporary bug or a new interface update Google is testing.
As a quick workaround for now, you could download the specific photos you need from your Google Photos to your Mac first, and then upload them directly to your review. You might also want to try clearing your browser cache or trying a different browser just to see if the old Google Photos option comes back. Hope this gets fixed for you soon!

Thank you two for your valuable comments. I hope it’s only a temp bug. Of course I can upload photos to my mac and write reviews, but it takes extra steps that i don’t like. just wait a few days then. I tried again on iphone and as you can see, no option for google photos either.
The ‘Collections’ below are photos stored on my iphone only.

The suggested workaround is not a solution, so I have unselected the solution. We need more help on this issue.
Hopefully someone can confirm or suggest a fix. Otherwise we need this escalated.

today I noticed exactly again using Chrome or Firefox under Windows 10. When you select “Add photos or videos” the panel open to select a local folder, but no option to select from Google Photos:
However, if you do not start from the POI listing, but from My Contributions → Contribute → Add own photos to Maps, you can select from some albums (and only from albums, no local files), but you do not see all most recently created. I.e., the album, I created yesterday, I did not see there, but only an older one and only three single photos I added yesterday.
Besides that, I already noticed 2 or 3 days ago, you cannot use drag and drop from Windows Explorer or another application anymore, to upload photos to a POI listing. It seems, both is a result of a recent change of the UI in the browser.
With @WilfriedB observations I this this issue needs to be escalated.
I can still upload from the desktop @TerryPG. My main problem is the fact drag&drop form Windows Explorer or other Windows applications doesn’t work anymore. Instead, I need to navigate to the folder and select some out of many others in the same folder.
Not sure, what your screenshot shows. The content of folder under Windows?
frustrating indeed. it’s always better to type long reviews on desktop - there are too many things that need detailing to type on phone.
@WilfriedB I waited a few days and tried again - Windows PC and Mac and iOS device, still one same result: upload from computer as the default and only option.
Hello @xuxukun, since the only way to post videos from the desktop, I am quite confident, it is a temporary bug and will be solved soon, because @MortenCopenhagen asked to escalate it.
Hello all,
I just noticed yesterday that I am unable to upload photos to any place in Google Maps via Google Photos on desktop browsers.
Earlier when I clicked the option to Add Photos to a place, there would be a window showing options for Google Photos upload and Upload from computer, in the left hand side bar.
Now when I click Add Photos to a place, I straightway get a browser window taking me to upload from my computer.
There is no option to upload via Google Photos available anymore.
Is it a problem OR a new way of uploading photos now onwards???
