Nigerian lunch-Swallow meals !!!

I have been in Ghana on and off for some years now,and I have come to love the Ghanaian dishes like Kenkey-Fish-and-Fresh-pepper-sauce . Nevertheless, nothing can take the place of the Nigerian made dishes. There are certain dishes your taste buds will always crave for, and they’ll be the yummy taste of the dishes you are brought up with.

In Nigeria, more often than not, lunch is always swallow meals. When I mean swallow we are talking about meals like;

  • Eba (Made from Casava flour)
  • Pounded yam(yam pounded in a mortar)
  • Amala(Made from yam flour)
  • Semo (Made from wheat flour)

The list goes on. We also have varieties of sauce/soup that goes with these swallow meals.

Today I had a lunch of Eba and Okro soup(diced and boiled) with tomatoes sauce or stew. It was garnished with cow meat !!! Nothing could be tastier.

Hope you like the lunch, well I enjoyed it anyway.

Thank you @MukulR .

My aunty actually made this on this occasion but it’s very easy to cook and I can equally make them. I had this today and infact not too long ago :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yes I have it very often thank you. We eat it with our fingers, am sure you do that in India and Bangladesh and some of these Asian countries.

Say safe too.

Cheers

Wow :heavy_heart_exclamation: Not a chance @MukulR

It’s a thing to be mastered. We have our meals quite hot too but not that hot. Thanks for sharing that video. There is some similarities anyway between the sub-continental eating and the African eating. Nevertheless we eat rice with spoon.

Hello @Aslam_hossain

Yes indeed. It will be nice to get an invitation to swallow :heavy_heart_exclamation: but for the sake of social distance we will let that be till Covid19 is over. Thanks for your interest

This looks so nice @SholaIB

I hope you enjoyed it.

Thank you for sharing this meal with us here on connect.

The opening photo is very tempting @SholaIB

Is the bread on the side dish sweet?

Thanks @TusharSuradkar our honourable moderator.

Indeed it is not bread in the sense of the normal bread we all know, it’s called Eba. Made from cassava flour as explained. It does be a bit sour. It has a nice taste that it can be chewed on it’s own. It’s a very common meal all over Nigeria. Thanks for your interest.
