Finding reviews on Google Maps that tell you exactly what you want to know about a place is now easier than ever. On both Google Maps for Android and iOS, you can now search reviews for keywords or phrases.
You can search for things like “wheelchair” if you want to know more about the accessibility of a place or “vegetarian” if you’d like to know more about a restaurant’s vegetarian options. Searching pulls up all of the reviews that mention what you searched for so you can find out more information from someone who has been there.
This feature was actually pretty surprisingly useful.
I searched for my local shopping centre and searched for the phrase “smoking” in the search bar.
I discovered the name of the centre manager, a future opening of a store two months after that owner’s response, and shared my sentiment with many people who also don’t like inhaling smoke when exiting the shopping centre. Someone even had the idea of hosting a food truck event in the shopping centre’s expansive car park, and the centre manager thought that would be a good idea.
This is great, props to the team. Users with accessibility, as well as those a little bit pickier with their service or their desires overall will greatly benefit from this.
