New Palace - The Architectural Grandeur of Kolhapur

The New Palace in Kolhapur is a sight to behold.

During my visit to Kolhapur earlier this year to host the first meetup, the grandeur and magnificent architecture of the palace captivated me.

The entrance to the palace is accessible and they have ample free parking for 2-wheelers and 4-wheelers.

The ticket booking office is on the right and is housed in a medieval structure made of stone.

The experience at the new palace was delightful as there were no queues to enter the palace, though the ticket counter had a few people lined up since it was a Sunday.

The entrance and exit for the palace museum are the same so note the galleries that you pass on the inward journey and track them back to the entrance.

Note: :wheelchair: The new palace has limited accessibility.

Nice sprawling lawns provide a nice place to take a break and enjoy the great views of the palace.

:hotel: Where to stay in Kolhapur
We stayed in Hotel Shlok which was easily reachable from the New Palace by car.

:shallow_pan_of_food: Where to Eat

Prabhavale Hotel is walking distance from the New Palace and the best place for classic Kolhapuri red and white curry.

The name of this place is New Palace or Shahji Chhatrapati Museum, New palace as printed on the ticket?

The ticket is for the Shahaji Museum that is housed inside the New Palace
Unfortunately, photography is strictly not allowed inside the Palace+Museum so no photos beyond the doorstep.

Thank you @ShreyaMusings @Ssiddharth2000
Yes, they don’t allow photography inside the palace since they have displayed original family photos of the royal family and they do not want those should be captured in photos by the public and displayed on social media.
Quite a reasonable expectation IMO
