Hi all,
Last week I uploaded this image to Shawarma Grillhus in Copenhagen.
After a few days, my image became the cover image of the business. This normally happens immediately rather than later )if it happens). Maybe there was a delay or the procedures have changed. Other of my photos from the same photo walk also got selected as cover photos after some delay.
If you look at the tiny circular copy of the image which is the logo image for the business, you will see that it is centered horizontally on the two people standing outside the shop and not the storefront itself. The storefront is centered in the image I uploaded. So the AI made a choice to auto-crop the image differently than usual.
A negative side effect is that the store name is no longer fully visible. The bigger cover photos are not affected. As seen below.
The uncentered cropping is something I might have seen in the past, but only very rarely. So it might be a new feature.
I just wanted to share these fresh observations with you.
Cheers

Interesting @MortenCopenhagen
Wonder if this can be related to the size of the photo. Looks like you use a 16/9 ratio. I normally prefer the traditional 4/3, and the result seems to be the one expected, as you can see here below.
I uploaded the photo 22 hours ago. The strange thing is that the photo appeared on the business icon while it was (apparently) still in the loading state, and it was not yet possible to see it in full size on the desktop.
I find it interesting that in your photo the right side appears instead, and I think we will have to look for constant repetitions to understand which framing to choose for our photos

Hi @ErmesT
As long as the “problem” pertains to only the tiny round business icons there is not much we need to do in my opinion.
Re height to width ratios I learned by doing that if you want get the cover photo you need to focus on the height to make it zoomed in as “much” as possible and then leave plenty of cropping space to the right and left of the storefront. Equally much cropping space on both sides to make it centered.
So in my experience there is no optimal height:width ratio.
I discussed this procedure in my Storefront series.

Hi,
This might not be the appropriate place to ask this question but let me go ahead and ask anyway .
I recently undated a address for a electric scooter dealer . They shifted to a new location and I confirmed with the shop regarding the name and new location . While updating it ask for a new location in the form, so I obviously selected and dropped pin on their new showroom , actually with a different name than this location in question .
So when i was finished , it showed that location will be reviewed by Google team and after a day or two it showed , " Google couldn’t verify your edits " .
So what can be done to delete the old location ?

Hi @IntranetMiRi
I saw same. After my star photo went missing completely it suddenly returned and conquered the cover place one more time.

Thank you for your contributions.
Interesting crop choice. It will be interesting to see if this becomes more common.
